Disney's Contemporary Resort Contacts Guests with New Warning
Guests staying at Disney's Contemporary Resort are being notified of some big changes. Find out how this will affect your next stay.
Big Refurbishment at Contemporary Resort
Originally, Disney's Contemporary Resort and Bay Lake Tower refurbishment started in September 2024. This first announcement came with an end date of Summer 2025. This was already almost a year long.
This past June, Disney made an extension to this refurbishment. At that time, the refurbishment was extended until July 2026.
Disney recently warned guests that Disney's Contemporary Resort will now extend through late 2027. This will be an almost 3-year refurbishment.
Big Refurbishment at Contemporary Resort
Just as a reminder, the Bay Cove Pool, Cove Bar, water play area, and whirlpool spa at the Bay Lake Tower Pool area are currently closed. They are expected to reopen in early May 2026.
Disney now warns that there will be exterior maintenance on the Main Tower beginning on March 23, 2026. Not only will this affect views, but this may also affect travel and walkways.
Work will begin late March on the Bay Lake Tower elevator landing. This work is expected through late May 2026.
Bay Lake Tower Skyway Bridge Closed
The Skyway Bridge connects Bay Lake Tower to the Main Tower of Disney's Contemporary Resort. Starting March 30, 2026, through May 1, 2026, the Skyway Bridge will be closed Monday through Friday, 9:00 am until 5:00 pm.
Starting March 20, 2026, the Skyway Bridge will close from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm Monday through Friday.
The Skyway Bridge will reopen after 5:00 pm each evening and remain open until 9:00 am the next morning, Monday through Friday. During the weekends, the Skyway Bridge will remain open.
This is definitely something to consider before booking a stay at Disney's Contemporary Resort and Bay Lake Tower.
