Is Disney Changing Villains Land to be Family-Friendly?
This is not the news that we were anticipating! See how Disney may make Villains Land more family-friendly than originally promised.

There are BIG changes coming to Magic Kingdom with the new Villains Land and the new Cars-themed Piston Peak National Park.
Disney claims this is "the largest expansion in history at Magic Kingdom."
Villains Land will be located at Disney's Magic Kingdom as part of the "Beyond Big Thunder" expansion. While Piston Peak (Cars Land) will take over the previous Rivers of America and Tom Sawyer Island location.
Villains Land Expectation

Villains Land will include 2 attractions, dining, shopping, and more. Be sure to check out the full villainous lineup HERE. Today, Drew Taylor from The Wrap shared rumors that Villains Land is being reimagined.
According to Taylor, the original vision was for Villains Land to take on a more sinister vibe, as with Dark Universe at Universal's Epic Universe. Now the shift is more similar to "How to Train Your Dragon", Isle of Berk at Epic Universe.
Disney promised a coaster for this new land with a Maleficent theme. This is now rumored to be a more family-friendly coaster, similar to Slinky Dog, themed to "Emperor's New Groove".
According to Taylor, this coaster could feature a "pull the lever" moment, sending Guests on a wild, unexpected ride.
Villains Land More Family-Friendly

Taylor shares that the feature attraction is rumored to be a dark indoor water attraction similar to the Pirates of the Caribbean: Battle of Sunken Treasure at Shanghai Disneyland.
Disney may be revamping Villains Land to make it more family-friendly.
A third attraction may also be in the works for this new land. Taylor shares that this could be a spinning ride featuring Ursula from "The Little Mermaid". A similar attraction was once mentioned for Disney's California Adventure.
Finally, Taylor shares that a dinner show featuring Hades' henchmen Pain and Panic could also come to Villains Land. Disney has not confirmed these possible changes, but it does make sense to shift to a more family-friendly theme.
Follow along as we continue to share updates for this new land. If these reports are true, this could push back the opening timeline to 2029.

I grew up in Orlando. So many kids were terrified of Snow White's Scary Adventures and exited off the ride crying and screaming. I was terrified of it as a child. Everyone agreed it was way too scary for little kids. Magic Kingdom in particular draws the families with little children. I think you have to appeal to the little ones. If you want scary, go to Universal.
These changes make sense. Disney's has always been geared toward families. Universal is geared more towards guests who are older and like wilder and more scary attractions. Trying to be everything to everyone rarely works. There is more than enough demand to go around for both types of parks.
Thank you for reading and sharing your thoughts. That is a very good point!
WOW! This news just took the wind out of my Sails. I hope that many of these changes are not true.... I had high hopes for Villains Land, but an Emperor's New Groove low-intensity Coaster definitely was not part of that optimism.
My thoughts exactly!
