At times, we have a warning when a Disney attraction will close, but this one surprised us. Find out what we know so far about this closure.

As Walt Disney once said, "We keep moving forward," and that is very true at Walt Disney World. This week, the Walt Disney Company shared BIG plans for Walt Disney World over the next 10 years.

Along with new expansions also comes routine maintenance for many of our favorite attractions throughout Walt Disney World.

Many times, Walt Disney World will share a planned refurbishment timeline with Guests, but this time, an indefinite closure surprised us.

Along with 4 great Theme Parks, Walt Disney World Resort is also home to 2 fun water parks. Currently, Blizzard Beach is closed, but will reopen on February 15, 2026.

Disney's Typhoon Lagoon is the only water park currently open, although cold weather has closed the park for several days this week.

Even with Typhoon Lagoon temporarily closed, we noticed that Mayday Falls is currently unavailable. The Walt Disney World website states, "At this time, Mayday Falls is unavailable. There is no confirmed reopening date."

This mysterious closure is quite disappointing for Guests. Mount Mayday offers three courses: Keelhaul Falls, Gang Plank Falls, and Mayday Falls. Keelhaul Falls and Mayday Falls each offer single-rider inner tube courses. Gangplank offers is a family-style raft for 4 Guests.

Many Guests enjoy Mayday Falls the most because this one is a bit more intense. At this time, the cause for this unexpected closure is unknown. With many guests enjoying the Seasonal Water Park Pass, we hope this attraction will reopen soon.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR: Donna loved Disney from an early age. As a child, her family would joke that she lived in "Donna Land." As an adult, she enjoys planning and creating magical vacations for her family. She always brings a little faith, trust, and a little bit of Pixie Dust!

  1. Who Cares. The "Dramatic" headlines aren't needed. we all know Walt Disney World, EPCOT, Hollywood Studio & Animal Kingdom aren't closing so that leaves the water parks.
