Warning Issued for Guests Traveling to the Orlando Airport
Yikes! Although this is not the best travel news, take a look at the current disruptions to see how this may affect your visit to Florida.
Orlando International Airport

Orlando International Airport, also known as MCO, is a busy airport. It is also a popular choice for those visiting Central Florida, which is where many of our favorite theme parks are located.
MCO is consistently listed in the top 10 busiest airports in the United States due to the number of travelers visiting Central Florida. At over 11,000 acres it is also one of the largest airports as well.
The MCO continues to experience heavy crowds during this Christmas season. This means heavy crowds at Orlando International Airport.
Orlando Airport Closure

Earlier, we shared that Orlando International Airport has announced a multi-year refurbishment. This will include its Gate Link vehicles, tracks, and electrical control equipment.
This upcoming project is big and will happen in phases. This project will impact travel between Terminals A/B and Gates 70-99 and Gates 100-129.
Guests traveling Southwest and Avelo are impacted by this work.
Warning for Orlando Airport

On a recent trip at MCO, we experienced the impact of this refurbishment. Large crowds gathered for the only tram now functioning. An airport worker barked orders at guests instructing them that the tram should be reserved simply for the elderly and families with young children and strollers.
This current project impacts travel between Terminals A/B and Gates 70-99 and Gates 100-129.
All other guests were instructed to follow a ramp outside the airport and use a shuttle bus. Many travelers still waited for this tram. The delay was inconvenient, but the confusion and the negative experience of being ordered by airport workers was not magical in the least.
You will want to pack your patience if this will affect your travel plans for the next year.
