Orlando International Airport (MCO for short) is a busy airport. Many people traveling to or from Disney World or Universal Orlando use this airport as it is only about a half hour away.
MCO is consistently listed in the top 10 busiest airports in the United States due to the number of travelers visiting Central Florida. At over 11,000 acres, it is also one of the largest airports as well.
Upcoming Refurbishment
Orlando International Airport has announced that a multi-year refurbishment will soon be underway. This will include its Gate Link vehicles, tracks, and electrical control equipment. This upcoming project is big and will happen in phases.
The multi-year refurbishment is a large undertaking and will happen in phases. This project will impact travel between Terminals A/B and Gates 70-99 and Gates 100-129.
The refurbishment will impact Gates 100-129, occurring from December 2025 to December 2026. Airlines impacted are Southwest and Avelo.
For Gates 70-99, the refurbishment will occur from December 2026 to October 2027. This will impact Air Canada, Air Transat, Bahamasair, BermudAir, Delta, Flair, Frontier, LATAM, Southwest, Spirit, Sun Country, Viva, Volaris, and WestJet airlines.
What Does This Mean For You?
With this lengthy refurbishment planned, you will need to budget extra time when using these Gate Links. If you are traveling during a particular Gate Links closure, you may need to use the other Gate Area. Travelers will then be transported between Gate Areas by bus.
Travelers should budget extra time into their schedule if traveling to or from Orlando Airport from the impacted gates.
Signage and information will be available for travelers navigating the airport. This refurbishment will impact many during this multi-year project.
