Disney Notifies Guests of Changes Due to Hurricane Melissa
Disney is now notifying guests of operational changes due to Hurricane Melissa. Will this affect your Disney vacation?
Disney Hurricanes

Hurricane season runs from June 1 to November 30. That's half the year! Typically, the bulk of hurricanes hit during the months of August, September, and October. September is considered peak hurricane season in Florida.
Disney World has closed its theme parks in the past due to hurricanes. It doesn't happen often, but it DOES happen. Most recently, the parks and Disney Springs were closed for Hurricane Milton last year.

Hurricane Melissa Affects Disney Cruise Line

Hurricane Melissa has intensified to Category 4. The Weather Channel shares that "Melissa could be one of the most intense, devastating hurricanes on record in Jamaica, with widespread flooding, landslides, and destructive winds."
"Flooding rain is also a grave concern in Hispaniola." Hurricane Melissa continues to strengthen and has the potential to become a Category 5 storm.
Due to potential threats in the Caribbean, Disney has changed two Disney Cruise Line itenearies. Disney guests are notified, "We have been closely monitoring the storm's forecasted track. Due to possible impacts in teh Caribbean, we have made the decision to change your itinerary.'
Disney Cruise Line Changes

The first itinerary change affects guests currently aboard the Disney Treasure. This cruise set sail yesterday, October 25, 2025. The Disney Treasure will now visit Cozumel, Mexico, on Tuesday, October 28th, instead of Tortola, British Virgin Islands. This sailing will also spend both October 30th (formerly a day at sea) and 31st at Castaway Cay.
Both the Disney Treasure and Disney Wish are affected by Hurricane Melissa.
The Disney Wish sailing to begin tomorrow, October 27, 2025, is also affected. Previously, guests would enjoy a Day at Sea on Tuesday, October 28th, but this will now be the day for Castaway Cay. This original Castaway Cay day, scheduled for October 30th, will now be a Day at Sea.

I'm certain a number of passengers may not like going to a cruise location they may not prefer as it seems the ship(s) are headed for destination ports they didn't want OR been there previously. I question any cruises leaving for the Caribbean or haven't left the U.S. yet should be cancelled and credit given for a future cruise to everyone aboard. Either way, cruising this time of year you are gambling with the weather as we're still in hurricane season and storms are predicted to worsen in the future due to Climate Change. Surrounding weather affecting Melissa's path and speed are part of the evils of Climate Change!
