There is a loyal following of Disney fans for the beloved Haunted Mansion attraction. The idea of the Haunted Mansion varies at each Disney Park around the globe. From mansions to manors, this attraction is a favorite among many Disney guests.
Haunted Mansion was an opening day attraction at Magic Kingdom's Liberty Square and has received a few fun changes over the years. One of the most recent and notable changes brought the return of the Hatbox Ghost. This clever illusion is truly spell-binding.
The Hatbox Ghost appears to guests as they pass the Endless Hallway, welcoming himself inside from the swinging wake in the cemetery and grinning at the Doom Buggies as they set off deeper into the mansion.
Behind the Scenes Look at the Haunted Mansion
We have had a few opportunities to see the Haunted Mansion from a bit of a different perspective. Most recently, Josh Gad (the voice of Olaf) took us behind the scenes as he took on his most ominous role yet as a Haunted Mansion Caretaker.
Join us for our own experience of walking off the Haunted Mansion when we were evacuated. Seeing this attraction with the lights on was quite a thrilling experience.
Still, we have often wondered what happens if we were simply allowed to stay aboard our Doom Buggy when we come to the end of the attraction.
Staying Aboard a Haunted Mansion Doom Buggy
Thanks to @not_your_typical_disney for sharing her experience as she approached the exit of the Haunted Mansion at Disneyland. She shares that due to an injury she was unable to use the moving walkway.
Haunted Mansion offers many different behind-the-scenes experiences due to technical difficulties.
To allow this guest to safely exit the attraction, she was able to stay aboard her Doom Buggy a bit longer. Once leaving the traditional exit, the Doom Buggies pass through a dark corridor and make their way to the start of this attraction.
After exiting, the exit is a bit different at Disneyland's Haunted Mansion when using this exit strategy. Check out the full experience below:
