Disney+ debuted in 2019 and has seen many changes over the years. Subscribers delight when new features are added, but typically, new specials and added features come with price increases.

To help decrease the sticker shock from price increases in March 2022, we began hearing rumblings about a cheaper plan. The catch of course is that ads will be shown on these lower-priced tiers.

Disney shared that the new "cheaper plan" would include ad tiers. Many Disney fans did not like the idea of ads being added to their favorite Disney content, but the lure of a lower-priced Disney+ streaming plan enticed many.

According to a prediction from The Hollywood Reporter, Disney could make almost 2 BILLION dollars from ad streaming by 2025. Now that we are now in 2025, the price for all Disney+ subscribes continues to increase including those on the "lower priced" ad tiers.

All Disney+ subscribers will see a price increase starting on October 21, 2025. You can see a full breakdown of this price increase HERE.

Due to the popularity of the Disney+ ad tiers, it appears that these will continue; however, a new law will help make them a little more enjoyable for subscribers.

According to the BBC, California signed a new law to prevent advertisers from increasing the volume of ads that are included on streaming platforms (including Disney+). This law goes along with a similar law that was passed in 2010, known as the Commercial Advertisement Loudness Mitigation (CALM) Act. This law affected the volume of ads for both TV and radio stations.

This law will take effect on July 1, 2026. Although ads may continue to be with many on Disney+, this new law will help to make listening to your favorite Disney content a bit more enjoyable.
