The TRON Lightcycle Secret Disney World Is Keeping
Walt Disney World is keeping a secret that may affect your chance to enjoy TRON Lightcycle during your next trip to Magic Kingdom.
TRON New Overlay
TRON is an incredibly popular attraction at Magic Kingdom that officially opened on April 4, 2023. Guests can either wait in the traditional standby line or purchase the Lightning Lane Single Pass for this attraction.
The price for this varies depending on the date, but typically costs between $20 and $22. This already popular attraction is set to become even more popular with a new overlay announced during the Destination D23 Event.
This September, both TRON attractions (Walt Disney World's Magic Kingdom and Shanghai Disneyland) will receive a fun Ares overlay. See full details of this new change HERE.
TRON Early Entry
TRON is NOT available for Early Entry, but Tomorrowland is open during this time. Back in July, we shared that Magic Kingdom has now made an exciting change to Early Entry for guests hoping to enjoy the most popular attractions.
On a recent trip to Magic Kingdom, we decided to head straight to TRON Lightcycle during Early Entry. We were told by multiple Cast Members and signage that TRON would not open until 9:00 am at park opening.
We were encouraged to experience other attractions and later return to TRON Lightcylce once the park officially opened.
Tips to Riding TRON
Although Disney shared that TRON Lightcycle would not open until 9:00 am, we were allowed to enter the building for this attraction at 8:48 am. The time stamp for our attraction photo was captured at 8:56 am.
Cast Members warn that TRON Lightcycle is not offered for Early Entry
This was a fun surprise for our morning, but guests hoping to enjoy this attraction with a lower wait time may have left earlier due to the warning that the attraction would not open until 9:00 am.
While Disney reserves the right to make changes to ride operations at any time, this was my (Donna) personal experience on Monday, September 1, 2025.
