Disney Makes Changes After Tragic Ferryboat Accident

Disney Transportation Accidents

The Magic Kingdom Ferryboats shuttle guests from the Transportation and Ticket Center (Magic Kingdom parking lot) to the Magic Kingdom park.

With multiple transportation options, accidents will likely occur even at the "Most Magical Place on Earth."

We would like to report that this is the first incident of a collision for the Magic Kingdom Ferryboat, but unfortunately, it is not. This past April, the Magkic Kingdom Ferryboat suffered another crash with multiple guests injured.

Disney Ferryboat Incident

Last week, July 30, 2025, was a soggy one at the Magic Kingdom. The crowds leaving the Magic Kingdom were high, and lines for transportation leaving the Magic Kingdom were quite long. This created adverse circumstances for those aboard the Magic Kingdom Ferrboat.

Multiple guests aboard the Magic Kingdom Ferryboat shared that the boat came to a sudden stop without warning. Due to this sudden jerk, multiple guests were thrown forward, and metal trash cans were moved, injuring guests in the process.

First responders were on the scene to help with multiple guest injuries. At this time, Disney has not released a statement regarding this accident; however, the heavy rainstorms may have contributed to the incident.

Disney Ferryboat Change

The Magic Kingdom Ferryboat has since returned to normal operations, but there is one notable change. Now all trashcans have been removed from the ferryboat.

One fellow, Kenny the Pirate Crew Member, shared her experience from the night, "I was aboard this ferry. The boat was not at the dock. The ferry was nearing the dock, but a few hundred yards (??) away, it seemed. Wind, lightning, rain. I was near the planned exit area. I saw the concrete pole coming, in one split second, my mind said "BRACE". I might have even verbally shouted it. The ferry bounced off it, and I think the ship circled/spun, not sure."

Some share that the trash cans become projectiles during this incident, causing multiple injuries. Although Disney remains silent on this incident, it sounds as though this is a positive step to prevent further injuries.
