Disney’s Hollywood Studios is going through some BIG changes, and demolition is now set. Do you feel like the old Hollywood vibe is now missing from this Disney Park?
Lacking “Old Hollywood” Vibe

In the wise words of Walt Disney, the Disney Parks will continue to be reimagined as long as there is imagination left in the world. However, the current state of Disney’s Hollywood Studios does not match the initial concept for this 3rd Theme Park at Walt Disney World.
With the removal of The Great Movie Ride, The Studio Backlot Tour, and Honey, I Shrunk the Kids Movie Set Adventure, to name a few classics, the original idea of MGM Studios serving as a window into “Old Hollywood” has changed.
Disney announced that the entire Muppets Courtyard would close, but the Muppets would relocate with a retheme of Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster. At this time, Disney has not announced when the Muppet re-theme will begin for Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster. Although this re-theme seems a bit odd, we are thankful that the Muppets will still be represented at Walt Disney World.
New Permit Filed

The Muppet Courtyard will close in phases similar to the current work taking place at DinoLand USA over at Disney’s Animal Kingdom. Mama Melrose’s Ristorante Italiano’s final day will be May 10, 2025.
Disney recently filed a permit that is associated with the Stage 1 Company Store located in Muppets Courtyard. This large store, once offered Muppet merchandise, but sadly never fully reopend after the Disney Parks closed in 2020.
The Stage 1 Company Store was used as a temporary merchandise shop for Jollywood Nights and, most recently, for May the 4th merchandise.
Demolition in Muppets Courtyard

The permit describes work for Stage 1 Company Store to be for “Demo, infrastructure, prep, and utility modification.” We knew BIG changes would come to Muppets Courtyard, but this new permit makes it feel real.

Thankfully Disney guests and Muppet fans will still have a few more weeks to enjoy PIzzeRizzo and Muppet Vision 3D. There is even a special filming scheduled to help preserve this favorite attraction of many.
What do you think of the demolition of this store? Do you wish this spot would have reopened with special Muppet merchandise before this location closed? Share your thoughts with us and share this news with your Disney pals.
