Disney is a great place to visit if you love baby animals. We know lots of our own Kenny the Pirate Crew members are huge animal fans. I (Heather) love catching a glimpse of baby Cora, baby Bakso, or even the Malayan argus pheasant chicks.

Both EPCOT and Disney's Animal Kingdom partner with Disney Conservation through the Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA) Species Survival Plan. The program strives to protect the magic of wildlife, and the baby animals you find in habitats and aquariums in the park are products of the program's careful process.

Earlier today, baby Tucker made his debut on the savanna at Disney's Animal Kingdom Park. His parents are Mara (mom) and Twiga (dad).

His arrival is a huge achievement as the Masai Giraffe is considered endangered. Disney is working diligently to help protect giraffes as poaching and habitat loss are threats to their natural environments.

"Tucker's birth is really important for us. It's a testament to Disney's leadership in animal care and conservation and our incredible partnership with the Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA) and the Species Survival Plan. This plan focuses on maintaining genetic diversity of the giraffe population and helping to prevent giraffes from becoming extinct."

-Dr. Mark Penning, Vice President of Disney's Animals, Science and Environment.

Mom and baby Tucker have been receiving around-the-clock care from Disney's animal team. His arrival helps ensure the survival of this species for future generations.
