Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind is, without a doubt, one of the most popular attractions at Walt Disney World right now. We have experienced a few breakdowns during the pre-shows for this attraction, but this was the first to actually have a breakdown during the middle of the attraction. Check out our experience!
Cosmic Rewind Pre-Show

It is not uncommon for an attraction to experience downtime throughout the day. Sometimes, it’s a technical issue that needs to be resolved, or the weather is forcing rides to close.
Many of the newer attractions have so many moving parts that all lead to the overall experience of the attraction. When one of these parts malfunctions, a backup plan is in place known as the “B Mode.”
Cosmic Rewind has various pre-shows. At times, guests experience “B Mode” in the Teleportation Room. Check out photos of this experience HERE. However, the many times we have enjoyed this attraction, we have never experienced a breakdown during the ride.
Cosmic Rewind Breakdown

On a recent visit to Epcot, I (Donna) was so excited to climb aboard my favorite attraction, Cosmic Rewind. This attraction offers a different experience depending upon the song played throughout the attraction.
Our vehicle was smoothly gliding along with “One Way or Another” by Blondie blaring. When we started to make our final ascent, we could hear the voice of Starload announce, “Quick, we’re here!”
That is when things began to break down. Our vehicle stopped and then slowly began to roll backwards. We rolled backwards just a bit and came to a stop. All the while, the music continued to play for the attraction.
Cosmic Rewind Scary Experience

Our vehicle remained stalled for about 30 seconds. Many times, when a breakdown occurs on a Disney attraction, you will hear a voice on the loudspeaker asking guests to remain seated and that the ride will begin soon. During this time, there is no such announcement just the music for the attraction.
An interesting breakdown stalled our vehicle, and later, we experienced Cosmic Rewind in silence.
Soon, our vehicle began moving again, but the musical track was now completed. The remainder of the attraction we experienced with no music at all, which was a little bit of an eerie experience. At the end of the attraction, we still experienced the hologram of the guardians welcoming us back. All in all, it was a pretty interesting experience and a first for us as this attraction is very reliable.
