Disney Vacation Club is getting ready for the opening of their newest Disney Vacation Club Resort. The Cabins at Fort Wilderness are set to open this summer, but there is one factor that may change your decision.
Cabins at Disney’s Fort Wilderness
The Cabins at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort will offer 350 cabins that “bring refreshed cabin hideaways.” This DVC (Disney Vacation Club) resort will be the 17th Disney Vacation Club Resort and is projected to open on July 1, 2024.

Golf Carts at The Fort
One thing that campers love to do at The Fort is loopin’. Loopin’ is when you ride around the campground on your golf cart. Having a golf cart when staying at The Fort makes getting around much easier.
Disney has now begun enforcing that Guests are no longer able to have third-party rental companies drop off golf carts. Guests can meet the company off-property, but the company is no longer able to deliver the cart to the campground. You can read more about the rule being enforced HERE.
A golf cart is not a requirement or a necessity when staying at the campground, but it is nice to have. You can quickly and easily get to the Settlement Outpost, the Meadow Trading Post, or anywhere in the campground without waiting for an internal bus.
Golf Cart Reservations and DVC
I (Heather) am anxiously waiting for the Cabins to open, as I love both DVC and The Fort. As I waited for my booking window to open, I contacted both DVC Member Services and the Golf Cart reservation Cast Members to find some answers.
There are no golf carts that are currently being held for new DVC bookings. Golf carts may or may not be available when you make your Cabin at Fort Wilderness reservation.
Both Cast Members confirmed that they are not holding any golf carts for the incoming DVC reservations. Golf carts can be rented up to one year in advance, and you cannot rent a golf cart through Disney without a reservation confirmation number.
This means that if you are traveling during a peak time or during the holidays like July 4th, Halloween, or Christmas you may not be able to reserve a golf cart for your stay. To make a golf cart reservation you can call (407) 824-2742.
Hopefully, Disney will make some plans for golf carts for DVC Members staying at the Cabins at Disney’s Fort Wilderness as their stays are quickly approaching. It would be very disappointing for Members making these new DVC reservations to be unable to reserve a golf car and experience The Fort the way they had hoped.
