Many dream of a trip to a Disney Park. Much planning, preparation, and saving go into a dream vacation. Even if the unexpected like a rain shower happens, many feel that a “rainy day at Disney is still better than a sunny day at home.” Unfortunately, even The Walt Disney Company cannot create the ideal park day.

Things inevitably still cause a trip to the Disney Parks to be a bit less than magical from weather to technical difficulties to attractions, fire alarms, and transportation delays.  Disney trains Cast Members in the “5 Keys” which help to provide the highest quality of hospitality to all guests.

These include Safety, Courtesy, Inclusion, Show, and Efficiency. Safety is listed first and is vitally important to provide safety for all guests and fellow Cast Members.

Even with the best safety plans in place, the unexpected can still take place. At 2:00 am this morning, December 28th, the Anaheim Fire and Rescue Department received a call about a chemical spill at Disneyland.

According to Cast Members, a chemical reaction of chlorine and another cleaning agent created a vapor cloud. This led to difficulty breathing for two Cast Members.

One Cast Member was treated at Disney Park while the second Cast Member was taken to UCI Medical Center. Thankfully this Cast Member was later released from the hospital.

This is not the first chemical incident at the Disney Parks. Disney’s Polynesian Resort was evacuated in October due to a chemical spill. We are thankful for the quick response of emergency services that help protect both Cast Members and Guests at the Disney Parks.

Two Cast Members were injured due to a chemical accident.

So grateful the Cast Members are okay. That is the most important thing. They make the magic and they make a difference. Thank you Cast Members of which my daughter is one.

Chlorine (Bleach or bleach containing cleaners) and Ammonia, if mixed, generate the equivalent of phosgene. Nasty!! Unfortunately, this happens often.
