Is there a bad time to visit Walt Disney World? We have a growing list of reasons why these may be the worst months to visit in 2025. Find out how this may affect your travel plans.
Refurbishments
Refurbishments are a part of life at Disney Parks. These may take place for various reasons. Whether it be for mechanical issues or cosmetic updates, a refurbishment can take place for many reasons. Based on the nature of the work, the refurbishment may take a few days or several months.
The vast majority of refurbishments reopen as planned and on a few occasions, even earlier than expected. Unfortunately, refurbishments may also be delayed. This is frustrating for guests, particularly when a guest-favorite attraction is affected.
Although the Disney Parks stay busy throughout the calendar year, there are slower times for the parks. With the growing list of refurbishments, it appears that January may be “Refurbishment Month” for the Disney Parks.
Growing List of Refurbishments
At Disney’s Animal Kingdom, TriceraTop Spin, Fossil Fun and Games, and Chester & Hester’s Dinosaur Treasures will close for the reimagining of DinoLand USA. Kali River Rapids will also close for a lengthy refurbishment.
At the Magic Kingdom, Big Thunder Mountain Railroad will close in January for a year-long closure. In 2025, Frontierland will see a big change with the closing of Tom Sawyer Island and the Rivers of America.
At EPCOT, Test Track is still under construction, and this will continue for a bit of 2025. Now, Disney just announced that the Gran Fiesta Tour at the Mexico pavilion will close for refurbishment.
What you need to know
Often, we will see a reopening date for refurbishments. At first a reopening date was not yet given. This is now updated that the Gran Fiesta Tour will reopen on March 15, 2025.
Gran Fiesta Tour will close indefinitely for a refurbishment starting on January 6, 2025.
January and February may have lower crowds, but the many closures may hinder your ultimate touring plan.
