EPCOT’s New Nighttime Show Luminous Debuts but Does it Deliver?

EPCOT’s new nighttime spectacular, Luminous The Symphony of Us, has made its debut! The fireworks show brings guests music, lights and plenty of effects, but does it deliver? Here is what we thought of the new show.

Luminous The Symphony of Us made its debut in EPCOT on December 5, 2023 along with the opening of World Celebration. It was definitely a great way to celebrate Walt Disney’s birthday!

The show features dazzling fireworks, fountains, lights and music. This all-new show demonstrates how each of our unique melodies comes together to form a great symphony – the symphony of us.

Two new original songs are included in the show, “Heartbeat Symphony” and “Beating of Our Hearts”. To see what other songs are featured in the show, be sure to read this post HERE.

When and Where to Watch

Guests can watch Luminous each night in EPCOT at 9:30 pm. If you are interested in booking a dining package for the show, packages are available at Rose and Crown or Spice Road Table.

One positive thing about the new show is that it really does not matter where you watch the show from!

Watch Luminous anywhere around the World Showcase for a great view!

On the night of the debut, I (Maggie) along with Kenny the Pirate watched the show from Japan. The fact that you can watch the show from anywhere around the World Showcase helps spread out the crowd.

Thoughts About the Show

The show reminded me a lot of World of Color that is shown at Disneyland’s California Adventure with the use of the fountain effects and light. There were plenty of special pyrotechnics and never-before-seen effects like what is shown in the picture above.

The new effects are seen in the finale during the original song, “Beating of our Heart”. These effects are thanks to custom designed launchers that launch the fireworks into a shape of a heart.

I enjoyed hearing the classic songs that played, such as “You’ll be in my Heart”, “You’ve Got a Friend In Me” and “I See the Light”. “When She Loved Me” and “Remember Me” were nice additions that can tug at your heart, but in my opinion, the show did not have the same resonance as “Happily Ever After”.

However, the show’s finale is fantastic! I cannot say enough good things about the finale, so be sure to stay for that. The effects are impressive and the show ends on a positive and optimistic note. “Luminous The Symphony of Us” is a great fit for EPCOT. I am looking forward to seeing it again because I think it’s one of those shows that will grow on to you the more and more you see it.
