NEW: The Disney Skyliner Will Close For Refurbishment

Do you plan to use the Disney Skyliner during your next trip to Walt Disney World? Disney just announced that it will be closing. Be sure to check out the affected dates and your transportation options.

There are select perks as guests of the Walt Disney World Resort. Guests can enjoy Early Theme Park entry, Extended Evening Hours, fun amenities, and free Disney transportation.

Many guests choose to fly to Walt Disney World and opt to save money on a rental car by utilizing free Disney transportation and using ride-share vehicles when needed. Other guests who drive to Walt Disney World may enjoy allowing someone else to worry about traffic as they travel to the parks.

This free transportation is a great perk, and there are many options based on the resort and the parks the guest will visit. These include buses, boats, monorails, and the Skyliner.

Refurbishment Scheduled

Walt Disney World stays open year-round (except for extreme situations…looking at you, Hurricane Ian.) This means that routine maintenance and refurbishment must take place while guests are still visiting the Parks.

Typically each January, the Disney Skyliner closes for a brief refurbishment. For 2024, the Disney Skyliner will close from January 16th through January 21, 2024, for routine maintenance.

The Disney Skyliner at Disney’s Riviera Resort and International Gateway at EPCOT will remain closed through January 27, 2024. During this time, Disney buses will be offered for guests at Disney Skyliner Resorts.

This will undoubtedly affect guests travel plans, and you will want to allow for extra travel time.

Disney Skyliner is set to close for routine maintenance starting on January 16, 2024.
