Ride Shuts Down Because of One Guest Breaking the Rules

It really isn’t hard to follow the rules at the Disney Parks. Rules are there for the safety of all guests while providing the best experiences for everyone. Don’t be like this guest that stops a whole ride in its “tracks.”

Reinforcing Disney Rules

Over the last few years, we have seen our fair share of poorly behaved Guests. Whether that be someone sticking their feet in the water on Splash Mountainbrawls breaking out, or a drunk man shutting down the Skyliner, we feel like we have seen it all.

Disney even went so far as to post a courtesy reminder on the website over one year ago.

Be the magic you want to see in the world. You must always remember to treat others with respect, kindness, and compassion. Those who can’t live up to this simple wish may be asked to leave Walt Disney World Resort/Disneyland.

New Rules Added

On occasion, Disney has added new rules to attractions for the safety of all guests. We saw this at the end of 2022, when Walt Disney World posted signs at Space Mountain: “Hand-held or loose articles, including cell phones and cameras are not permitted while riding. Items must be secured on the person, in a vehicle storage pouch, or left with a non-rider.

This rule was also carried over to other attractions such as Magic Kingdom’s newest attraction Tron. Still, even with warnings in place, a video surfaced where a guest lost their phone on Tron back in June of this year.

Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway is a fun attraction featuring the “trackless” ride technology. This is similar to the ride system such as Rise of the Resistance at Hollywood Studios and Remy’s Ratatouille Adventures over at EPCOT. Disney loves this type of technology; however, one “disturbance in the force” can affect the entire attraction.

The great part about these attractions is that it seems that you are randomly moving throughout these attractions. This is a fun feeling but does have a few hiccups. Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway is offered at both Disney’s Hollywood Studios on the East Coast and Disneyland on the West Coast.

They are almost identical but offer a few minor differences. When guests board this “Runaway Railway” they are reminded to store all loose articles including hats, glasses, cell phones, etc. Recently, a guest at Disneyland did not follow these rules as instructed.

In the video seen below, all guests aboard Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway at Disneyland experienced a sudden stop when a guest accidentally dropped their cell phone while the ride was in motion.

Guests were asked to remain seated in their ride vehicle until a Cast Member came to assist them in exiting the attraction. In this instance, guests on board should receive a Multiple Experience pass to enjoy this attraction later in the day or to use it on other select attractions.

Guests are asked to stow all loose items to keep fellow guests safe and to keep all attractions running smoothly.

This is quite disappointing for the other guests on this attraction and this is so easily avoidable by simply following the safety rules and guidelines for attractions.

What do you think of this accident? Do you think Disney should put even more safety measures in place? Has something similar happened while you were in a park? Share your thoughts and share this news with a fellow Disney pal.

The person who posted the video was using his phone! That’s a loose item he could have dropped as well. Why wasn’t he in trouble??
