Scheduled Maintenance

There are slower times at Walt Disney World, but Walt Disney World never has off-seasons where they close for regular maintenance. Refurbishments and maintenance occur while guests enjoy the “Most Magical Place on Earth.” In Disney Parks, this may mean an attraction may have to close.

At Disney Resorts Resort Guests are only mildly inconvenienced by these resort refurbishments and maintenance.  Construction work typically ends at dusk and begins again around 9:00 am the following day. Other times, work is completed overnight.

Although refurbishments are not ideal, Disney tries to notify guests well in advance.

Disney plans to cut the power soon at one resort. On Friday, October 6, 2023 a scheduled power outage will take place from 2:30 am to 5:00 am at Disney’s Boardwalk Inn and Villas.

The sign reads: “To better assist you in planning your stay, we would like to make you aware of a scheduled power outage during the overnight hours on Friday, October 6, 2023 from 2:30 am to 5:00 am. During this time, work will be conducted that will temporarily affect the power in your Guest room.

Should you have any questions or need additional assistance, our Cast Members are happy to assist you.”

How may this affect your stay?

With no power during these hours, your stay may be greatly affected. For one, there will be no air conditioning. If you use an overnight medical device like a CPAP, definitely speak to a Cast Member for assistance.

Elevators and lights will be non-operational. If you are planning to come in late from the Boardwalk like Jellyrolls, you may have trouble seeing in the hallways and your room.

And, if you need to get up early for a flight, you may want to ensure your alarm will go off or set a second one that does not require a power source.

Will your stay be affected by this scheduled power outage? Let us know in the comments below, and share this post with a friend who is staying at the Boardwalk.
