Wondering whether or not weather will be a factor for the new Moana attraction at EPCOT? Here is everything we know.
Journey of Water
Part of EPCOT’s reimagining includes a Moana-themed walk-through attraction called Journey of Water. This immersive exploration trail will be in the heart of EPCOT’s World Nature neighborhood.
This new attraction will serve as a huge feature in this area of the park dedicated to “understanding and preserving the beauty, awe, and balance of the natural world.”
Guests have an option to “Make a splash…or stay dry!” “You can choose to get wet—or take the dry path instead—as you explore this whimsical, watery world.” For a walk through of the attraction, take a look at this post HERE.
Crowd Control
Right now, if you are a DVC Member or Annual Passholder, you can enjoy a preview of the new Moana attraction. Previews are happening right now! When previews were first announced, Disney informed guests that a virtual queue would NOT be required to preview the attraction. This was different compared to other previews that happened earlier, like for Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind and TRON Lightcycle / Run over at the Magic Kingdom.
However, everything changed once previews began. Disney shared that a virtual queue would be required as needed for guests previewing the attraction. Once the attraction opens next month on October 16th, it is very likely that we could still see a virtual queue in place.
Weather
For any Disney World vacation, on top of all of the other planning you need to do, you need to be prepared for the weather! Weather changes in Florida all year round. While seeing any actual snow in Florida is very rare, the state does experience hotter temperatures in summer months, cooler temperatures during the winter and one of the most common weather elements is rain.
Every now and then, rain will close many of the outdoor attractions at Walt Disney World. This is especially true if lightning is in the area. Since Journey of Water, Inspired by Moana is located outdoors, it is very likely that the attraction will close due to rain or other weather concerns.
Journey of Water, Inspired by Moana will close because of rain.
During some of the previews, the attraction has already closed due to rain. If you are looking to escape the rain at EPCOT, take a look at Kate’s post HERE on the best places to go to.
Are you attending a preview now or sometime soon? Has the preview been closed due to the rain at all? Let us know in the comments below or share this post with a friend who might be attending a preview now.
