Disney uses volunteers to help make some of their operations run smoothly. However, one big perk has now been removed for this group of volunteers.
runDisney
runDisney has FOUR race weekends at Walt Disney World and will soon bring races back to Disneyland. What could be more fun than running through your favorite place? I know I am not alone because these races sell out FAST!
These races put you right in the middle of the magic. You can run through the Disney parks and get the chance to meet some very rare characters.

runDisney Volunteers
runDisney volunteers are an amazing group of people. Without these volunteers these events would not run seamlessly. Volunteers can be found throughout the entire race weekend.
You will find them manning water stops along the course, awarding you with your finisher medal, cheering you on throughout the course, and even at bib pickup at the expo. This volunteer opportunity is a big deal.
runDisney events do not happen at normal hours of the day! These volunteers get up in the middle of the night to make your miles magical! runDisney states that each race season they need about 15,000 volunteers! That’s a lot of volunteers!

Volunteer Perks Gone
runDisney no has a disclaimer on the registration page for volunteers. It reads:

YOUR PASSION FOR MAKING A DIFFERENCE IN THE CENTRAL FLORIDA COMMUNITY THROUGH OUR CELEBRATED CHARITIES IS TRULY VALUED. IN KEEPING WITH THAT SPIRIT OF VOLUNTEERISM, COMPLIMENTARY THEME PARK TICKETS WILL NOT BE DISTRIBUTED. WE APPRECIATE YOUR SUPPORT AND ENTHUSIASM FOR OUR MAGICAL RUNNING COMMUNITY.
Disney is no longer providing complimentary theme park tickets to runDisney volunteers.
Disney is NO LONGER PROVIDING COMPLIMENTARY park tickets to the runDisney volunteers.

Irving complaining again… zzzzzzz’s. If Disney (and The Village’s) didn’t plan out their respective properties/communities would the other businesses around them be as viable today? Yes public funds were contributed to set off a boom that benefits the public but as volunteers this is a small price to pay considering the cost is purely on the books and not a true representation of actual cost of admittance.

If Disney didn't use tax payer money to provide the tickets to volunteers then it wouldn't be a problem.
