MGM Studios opened to Guests on May 1, 1989. The theme of this new park was to serve as a window into “Old Hollywood.” MGM Studios welcomed Guests, but it also served as a production studio for both television and movies.

Since this was a working studio, on select dates Guests could enjoy the “Star Today”. While at MGM Studios, these stars would conduct interviews while at the MGM Studios.

Guests could enjoy a mini-parade of the star riding through the park with our favorite pal, Mickey Mouse. To end this amazing event, the “Star Today” would make an imprint of their hands and feet in front of the Chinese Theatre. Guests can still see these impressions in front of the Chinese Theatre today.

Disney added additional attractions throughout the years. Soon the focus shifted from the studio experience of opening day to a new vision with headlining attractions.

Fast forward to the present day, guests can now enjoy special previews of new Disney films at Disney’s Hollywood Studios from billboards to theatrical previews at Walt Disney Presents. Guests can also meet the brand-new live-action Ariel at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. These special offerings are exciting to guests and bring the magic of Hollywood to this park.

This summer is quite a big one for the Indiana Jones Series. In honor of the release of this film, guests visiting Disney’s Hollywood Studios can enjoy the Indiana Jones: Den of Destiny Beverage Outpost. This outpost officially opened to guests on June 9th.

The Den of Destiny is located in the former Indiana Jones Adventure Outpost. This newly designed area features beverages, fun props, and great Indiana Jones merchandise. At the initial announcement, this would be open for a “limited time”.
