It is no secret that Orlando International Airport (also known as MCO) has only gotten busier over the past few years. This year it was named one of the 10 busiest airports in the United States.

And it makes total sense! With Disney World, Universal, Legoland, Sea World, and so many other theme parks and attractions, millions of people fly in and out of the airport every year.

With growing demand came a recent airport expansion. Terminal C boasts international gates as well as shopping and dining opportunities. It is a bustling airport and had record-breaking numbers of guests over the 4th of July week.

Soon this busy airport is increasing fees for Ride Share Companies. According to Uber, they received a letter from the Orlando International Airport that they would soon see an increase in passenger pickup fees.

The current pickup fee is currently $5.80. Orlando International Airport will raise this to $6.35 in August. By October, this pickup fee will increase to $7. Uber shared with Fox35 that this is the “highest fee of any airport where they operated.”

This fee will no doubt be absorbed by the passengers. Uber drivers are concerned that this increase may encourage passengers to choose shuttle services such as Mears Connect Driven by Sunshine.

Orlando International Airport is increasing the Ride Share pickup fee starting in August.

This will also affect Lyft and Taxicab services as well. This is not the welcome news that passengers hope to hear.
