Encanto Meet and Greet
Disney’s Encanto has fans in love with the Madrigal family. We have seen Mirabel at Disneyland, Adventure Friends Cavalcade, and “training” at Epcot. Guests cannot get enough of the hit movie Encanto.
This past spring, Disney announced that this fall, Mirabel from Walt Disney Animation Studios’ hit film “Encanto” will greet guests in Fairytale Garden surrounded by whimsical décor inspired by La Familia Madrigal.
The unfortunate news is that this newly transformed space would affect another favorite meet-and-greet location.
Relocating Merida
The space where Merida currently meets will be redesigned for Mirabel. This means Merida will officially leave her home next to Cinderella Castle. Before this location was home to Merida, Rapunzel and Flynn Rider greeted guests at this location.
Although Disney did not announce an exact time frame for when Mirabel may greet guests, we recently saw progress when work permits were filed for this space. We assumed that the Fairytale Gardens will probably close temporarily while construction work is being completed.
Without much-advanced warning, Disney now shares that today, July 8th, is the last day Merida will meet at the Fairytale Garden location. Today these gates will forever close for this special Brave experience.
So many guests loved this interactive space and pretended to shoot arrows alongside Merida. There is a small glimmer of hope with this sad news.
Starting tomorrow, July 9th, Merida will still greet guests, but this time she will meet behind Ye Olde Christmas Shoppe. This is an interesting location change, but we are thankful that she will still be greeting guests.
Today, July 8th, is the last day Merida will meet at the Fairytale Garden location.
This is unfortunate for those guests currently at Walt Disney World and those with upcoming trips that hoped to see Merida at her official meet-and-greet location one last time.
