The Annecy International Animated Film Festival has established itself as the world’s largest event dedicated to animation. It brings together the most esteemed professionals from the sector to celebrate animation! Therefore, it is no surprise that presentations from Walt Disney Animation Studios are festival highlights year after year.

The festival is going on all throughout this week and Walt Disney Animation Studios participated in part of the Opening Ceremony. During the ceremony, audiences were able to view a brand new short!

Big Announcements Coming

Disney will present details looking ahead to “the Next 100” years. Attendees will get a first look at the next chapter in Disney’s history! Additionally, the team has plans to share a big reveal!

There are plans to unveil an upcoming animated series that will usher in the next century of Disney storytelling. This series will be inspired by a well-known piece of Disney Intellectual Property. There will also be announcements of other new originals and upcoming content for kids/families.

Once Upon A Studio

“Once Upon A Studio” is a new short directed by Trent Correy and Dan Abraham. It celebrates Disney’s 100th anniversary and will debut with Disney’s new film, “Wish” which comes to theaters on November 22nd.

“This is a love letter to the medium, to Disney animation, and really a thank you to anyone in the audience that’s ever connected with a film over the last hundred years,” said director Dan Abraham.

The short features Mickey Mouse gathering Disney characters for a group photo. Forty voice actors returned to record dialogue for the short. Actor Josh Gad shared his thoughts on the new animated short in the following Tweet:

This short looks to be amazing with so many actors returning to lend their voices to the new short! We cannot wait to see its debut.
