Disney World Sets the Price for New TRON Coaster
You will not believe how quickly the new TRON coaster sold old this morning in Walt Disney World. Check out the stats and the price for the first-ever TRON Individual Lightning Lane Selection.
TRON Soft Opening

Last week, Walt Disney World visitors with plans to head to the parks over the next two weeks received fantastic news. Disney shared that the hotly anticipated new attraction TRON Lightcycle / Run would be opening earlier than expected.
Disney shared that from "March 20th through April 2nd, guests may have the early opportunity to experience TRON Lightcycle/Run during a limited soft open virtual queue or purchase of Individual Lightning Lane entry." Be sure to read all about the LIMITED operating hours during this time HERE.
TRON's first Virtual Queue

Naturally, many Guests with Magic Kingdom reservations for today (March 20, 2023) were up attempting to grab a Boarding Group for TRON as the clock struck 7:00 AM. While few were rewarded, many were left disappointed.
This is because the TRON Boarding Groups filled up swiftly and were gone in less than a minute. However, take heart. Boarding groups will open again at 1:00 PM to give Guests who are in the Magic Kingdom and did not secure a 7:00 AM group a chance to try for a place in the TRON Virtual Queue.
TRON Lightning Lane Pricing

Some Guests were able to grab Individual Lightning Lanes for TRON this morning. Disney World set the first-ever TRON Individual Lightning Lane price at $20 per person for today.
That is just $5 less than today's Genie+ pricing of $25 per Guest. Of course, Lightning Lanes in Walt Disney World are on a variable pricing structure and will fluctuate.

It will be interesting to see how high the pricing for TRON goes this week. We may see it increase tomorrow as today the Lightning Lanes sold out in no time. All were purchased by no later than 7:25 AM. They might very well go even more quickly as the week moves on.
TRON Lightning Lanes were priced at $20 today and sold out in under 25 minutes.

Do you know anyone who is trying to ride TRON during its soft opening? Be sure to pass this information along. Were you among the lucky ones who grabbed TRON today? Feel free to leave your thoughts in the comments.

People will gladly pay the cash, it’s Disney!
It sure does seem like that is the mindset. People are happy to spend the money to avoid the hassle.
Personally, due to Disney ripping of their customers, after going to the Disney parks many times, enough is enough. I will spend my vacation dollars elsewhere.
Disney wants their cake and they want to devour every crumb too. I have no issue with them wanting to charge for individual attractions and rides. This is how it was when I was a kid and was actually the best system they ever had. Of course back then you bought a physical ticket and it didn't cost anywhere near $20 for even the best E-Ticket ride and park admission was less than $5.00. The idea that they can charge $25 to park your car, $100+ per person just to walk in the park, and still charge per ride is just greedy... of course they are doing all this while extracting large sums of money for food, drinks, and if you are staying at one of the resorts you should probably keep an eye on your bank balance.
Prices are going to go up, but it would nice if the experience increased in value at the same time. While it is about the money, it's not just about the money, it's about the value and the quality of the experience. I could live with the prices, but the quality has gone down as the dollar amount has gone up. The magic is gone and all that remains is greed.
Gone in under a minute, just like the length of the ride. Ride is not worth getting up at 7 am, paying $20, or waiting in line. Seriously.
Sucks but if people are gonna pay they are gonna do it. I let my AP go after Genie+ was announced and I don't intend to have one again. I'll get my disney fix at parties and after hours events.
Agree that Disney will continue the practice as long as Guests are willing to pay.
With the virtual queue bringing in lots of cash to Disney's pockets, the old fast pass system will never come back. People may complain about having to pay but the numbers show guests are doing just that.
I think it is terrible of money hungry Disney to charge this amount (after paying for park tickets) to ride a ride at the park and it is just about the only other way to ride these popular rides, especially after being able to previously do this with the FREE fast pass. I would be okay with paying the $15 or $20 per day for 3 passes which were free.
I hate getting up on vacation at 7 am to try to obtain a next to impossible virtual queue that is costing me money. This system does not work nearly as well as the old fast pass system!
