With the updated DAS system at Disney World there are so many new things to learn. Did you know there are limitations with certain Disney World attractions?

Disney recently updated the Disability Access Service (DAS for short). While there are certainly some major improvements, there are also some serious frustrations. Many Guests are delighted to be able to pre-choose two attractions per day. However, the process to do that can be very burdensome.

Joe outlines some of those frustrations HERE, and Kate discusses whether you should register ahead of time or wait until your trip HERE.

There are some limitations with pre-registration. The biggest is probably the fact that not every ride at Disney World is available to select ahead of time. Typically, any attraction that utilizes Individual Lightning Selections (ILLS for short) cannot be booked ahead of time.

These attractions are what I want to talk about today. You may remember that earlier this year Disney announced some attractions would move from ILLS to Genie+. This means instead of purchasing the ride a la carte, they can be booked using the Genie+ service which is a flat fee.

Those rides include Space Mountain, Frozen Ever After, and Mickey and Minnie's Runaway Railway. This goes through the end of summer, and it is essentially a way for Disney to spread out return time availability. Read more about this HERE.

You may or may not naturally assume that those attractions would now be available to select ahead of time when pre-registering for DAS. That is actually not the case. While these attractions have moved to Genie+ they have not moved over for DAS.

This means you still cannot select Space Mountain, Frozen Ever After, and Mickey and Minnie's Runaway Railway ahead of time with DAS even though they are now Genie+ attractions.

Now you may already know that, and great! However, this is useful information for Guests who are registering for DAS ahead of their trip and were not aware of the limitations still in place.

How has your experience gone with DAS pre-registration? Do you think these three attractions should be eligible for advanced selections now? Let us know in the comments below and on Facebook.

  1. Das is for cognitive disabilities since the queues can accommodate physical disabilities. It’s more for those whose minds can’t tolerate long wait times. Most theme parks around the nation only accommodate autism/intellectual type disabilities and not physical ones though so I don’t fault Disney.

  2. What a waste the DAS system. Wait on the phone and still blown off. I am truly disabled and cannot stand for any period of time and have a lifetime disabled and Disney online said there is nothing to do for me. Just ask at the ride. What?

    1. Disney won't offer DAS if your disability can be accommodated with a wheelchair or ECV since queue lines are now wide enough to accommodate them.

  3. Exactly! Many disabilities are invisible. I can’t walk long distances or sit to long, or stand to long…other guests have been horribly rude when they see me get out of my wheelchair and walk a few steps. There’s really no benefit to the DAS pass if you don’t need it…you still need to wait.

  4. Why did they change the das so that they could pre-register in advance for the 2 attractions per day? After they are approved, they can enter in the park and use mde to utilize das. I’m just wondering why this was added. The standby lines are coming to a complete standstill at times and I think one of the reasons is that das is being abused again. It is a wonderful service but can be prone to abuse.

  5. What does running have to do with it? There are plenty of DAS eligible disabilities that have nothing to do with someone's ability to run. Many disabilities are invisible. Don't judge.

  6. I am ok with that. Everyone at the parks have to wait to some extent. Unfortunately many claim to have disabilities and they can't wait. I have seen lines stop for 20 minutes while dozens of people load up unto a ride using DAS only to see them running later. Universal almost all disabikities still wait in line.

  7. DAS preregistration should change it to frustration. I spent a Saturday on hold 3 different times for 3 hours. My child was out playing and not sitting by the computer with me, he is on the spectrum, he can’t sit and wait 3 hours for someone to virtual chat him. Oops the 10 minute wait was up and I got disconnected. It happened a second time after another 3 hour wait, disconnected again, and again a third time. Tried it again on Mothers Day, waited and waited, no response while he was with me inside. Why does it have to be so difficult? Our DIsney magic is gone, just one stressor after another..
