After a lot of confusion we now have a real date for MagicBand+ release

It is a lot sooner than we thought, but not today!

Disney’s newest MagicBand, MagicBand+, is the newest piece of interactive technology that will take your trip to Disney World to the next level. This new MagicBand will allow Guests to interact with the Fab50 character statues that can now be found in ALL 4 of the Theme Parks.

This band will also light up and even vibrate depending on where you are located in the Parks.

  • Play like a bounty hunter in a galaxy far, far away and find virtual bounties throughout Black Spire Outpost in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge at Disney’s Hollywood Studios.
  • Interact with the “Disney Fab 50 Character Collection,” the golden sculptures spread throughout The Walt Disney World theme parks.
  • Experience nighttime spectaculars in a new way as you see your band light up and complement the magic in the skies, including the new Harmonious at EPCOT and Disney Enchantment at Magic Kingdom Park.

Disney recently filed with the FCC and we got a closer look at this new MagicBand. For more on that, head over HERE.

Whoopsie! An accidental release

Earlier this week Disney shared that Guests can enjoy MagicBand+ sometime later this year. That is kind of a bummer because the 50th anniversary ends in the spring of 2023. We want to interact with those 50th statues!

It appears someone over at Disney got really excited about MagicBand+ because it popped up in the parks earlier today, May 1. People were finding it at World of Disney in Disney Springs. Only 3 plain colored bands were available for $29.99. According to several reports, Disney pulled the bands from shelves because this was an error!

Some Guests were able to purchase them before Cast Members caught on to the mistake. However, they are not able to link them to My Disney Experience or use them in the parks.

A real release

So, when is the next MagicBand going to be released?! It is actually set to go live in June of this year! This is not quite as early as May 1, but the fact that they are already being delivered to stores is a good sign that we may see an early June release.

This is still a lot better than the original “later in 2022” timeline Disney just gave us days ago!

MagicBand+ is set to debut in June.

What do you think of the accidental release this morning? Are you excited for the real release next month? Let us know in the comments below and on Facebook.

Is there an update on release time frame? We are leaving June 29 and I've been holding off on magic bands hoping they would arrive before our trip

I mean, it still has all those same features that you loved but now it has more and for about the same price. You can opt out and use the card for room and park access. So you don’t HAVE to buy it.

I Consider it a souvenir! With my luck won't be available online and will probably be gone before my trip on Aug. Will check out what is available in the park when I get there.
