Are you planning to visit Disney this Summer? This early closure may affect your touring plans.
Every now and then, theme parks in Walt Disney World close early. Guests may not be in the parks during these dates and times.
Typically these closures are for evening ticketed events such as after-hours events or holiday parties. Sometimes they are for company events like Cast Member Celebrations.
Many guests prefer to adjust their touring plans to avoid days when parks experience early closure. This is particularly true if the closure affects nighttime spectaculars.
However, guests who elect to attend the parks on these days are often rewarded with lower crowd levels. If you do not plan to watch the nighttime shows, or you plan to park hop, you may actually prefer to visit the park on a day when it closes early.
Epcot’s Early Closure
Epcot will be closing early soon. According to the Walt Disney World webpage, the closure will occur on June 5, 2022.
Not only that, but the early closure will come with closed park areas and cancellations. The statement has multiple layers.
On June 5, 2022, beginning at 6:00 PM, some World Showcase experiences and offerings will be unavailable including attractions, entertainment, dining, and merchandise locations. The remainder of Epcot will close at 8:00 PM. Additionally, the Harmonious nighttime spectacular will be unavailable.
On June 5, parts of World Showcase close at 6:00 PM. Epcot Closes at 8:00 PM, and Harmonious is Canceled.
If you are interested in experiencing World Showcase in its entirety, and you want to see Harmonious, this is a good day for you to avoid reserving a Park Pass for Epcot. It is also not a good day to plan to watch the fireworks from outside of the park.
If you try to book a Park Pass for Epcot on June 5, 2022, you will get a message reminding you of this closure. This is Disney’s way of helping guests manage expectations for the day.
There is no word just yet on which parts of World Showcase will be affected. There is also no word on why the closure is occurring.
