I (Maggie) was able to try the Mickey Mouse dome cake from Gaston’s Tavern back in October. At first I was not sure what to expect. I thought it might be too rich, but I was pleasantly surprised once I tried it. It was actually really good! This treat was very light and not too rich at all.

Since I had tried the Mickey Mouse dome cake before, I knew I had to try the next anniversary treat from Gaston’s Tavern.

The Donald Duck Dome Cake made its debut on January 10th at Gaston’s Tavern.

This replaced the Mickey Mouse treat that has been there since October. “Give five “hurrahs!” Give twelve “hip-hips!”… but is this 50th anniversary treat the best or is it “all drips”?

We had a chance to try the new treat and here is what we thought.

The Donald Duck Dome Cake is a lemon mousse with blueberry filling, citrus cake and has buttercream. I admit that I was not too sure about lemon mousse and blueberry filling, but I figured I would at least try it.

This snack is very light, has a little bit of citrus flavor and the blueberry filling definitely makes it seem fruity. While it was pretty good, I still preferred the Mickey Mouse Dome Cake over this one. I think I preferred the chocolate mousse versus the lemon mousse. I also enjoyed that cake without the fruit filling.

If you are a big chocolate fan, chances are you would prefer the Mickey Mouse Dome Cake over this one, but if you enjoy fruit fillings in your treats, you might think the Donald Duck Dome Cake is number 1, just like our number 1 duck!

Have you tried the new Donald Duck Dome Cake from Gaston’s Tavern? What did you think of it? Did you like this one over the Mickey Mouse Dome Cake? Tell us about it in the comments below or on our Facebook page.
