Holiday Changes

In 2020, Guests were given a fun experience when many festive offerings were available throughout the Magic Kingdom for ALL Park Guests. This was due to the cancellation of Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party events.

Although many Guests missed this special ticketed holiday event, it was a fun experience to enjoy all of the holiday magic around the Magic Kingdom. In 2020, Guests could enjoy holiday cavalcades with parade floats as featured in the Very Merry Christmas Party.

Guests could also see beautiful holiday projections on Cinderella Castle when the sun began to set. Closer to the holidays, Guests were given an added dose of magic with small bursts of fireworks as the nighttime castle projections changed to various pattens. For a look back on the offerings of the 2020 holiday season HERE.

Many of the holiday offerings from last year are no longer available to guests visiting the Magic Kingdom. These special offerings are now available at the Disney’s Very Merriest After Hours event.

The Main Street Trolley car is decorated for the holiday season with festive garland and decorations. This trolley will be used throughout the day to transport the Dapper Dans, a barbershop quartet of singers down Main Street to serenade Guests.

This trolley is also used for the Fantasyland Friends Cavalcade which includes Winnie the Pooh, Rabbit, Piglet, and Eeyore. Bouncing behind the Main Street Trolley is our energetic pal Tigger.

In 2020, our hundred acre wood friends were dressed for the holidays with festive scarves. This year, scarves are no longer worn except for the Disney’s Very Merriest After Hours event. However, it is nice to see the Main Street Trolley festive for the Christmas season.

Every trip I (Donna) love to bring home an ornament for our Christmas tree. This year the castle ornament in honor of Walt Disney World’s 50th Anniversary was too perfect to pass up.

Ye Olde Christmas Shoppe, located in Liberty Square, also has many great ornaments and Christmas decorations. You can also have ornaments personalized at this location as well.

Jingle Cruise

Back again by popular demand is the fun holiday overlay of the Jungle Cruise attraction. The Jingle Cruise allows Guests to enjoy holiday “dad jokes” and fun holiday jungle decorations as you journey through the jungle aboard your trusty riverboat.

This 10 minute boat ride will be sure to put some “jingle” into your holiday.

New 50th Inspired Holiday Decorations

This year the holiday decorations received an EARidescent reimagining in honor of the 50th Anniversary of Walt Disney World. Many of the decorations have received a polished look with golden accents and an EARidescent shine.

It truly looks lovely with the reimagined paint design and embellishments of Cinderella Castle. We can see golden accents and ribbon have been added to the large wreaths that line Main Street, USA.

We enjoyed special decorations on our trip that were part of television filming for the holidays. Check out this “behind the scenes” look at this filming HERE.

These golden touches could also be seen on the wreaths that adorn the lampposts along Main Street. These subtle changes from previous years are simply stunning and extend the 50th Anniversary celebration throughout the Christmas season.

Previously the entrance of the Magic Kingdom was adorned with garland and beautiful flowers for this festive occasion. This year the 50th emblem with “The World’s Most Magical Celebration” is still on display. For the holiday season, it appears they they added red and green lights to the display.

I (Donna) do love all of the 50th Anniversary Christmas decorations, but this seems a bit dispappointing. It would have been nice if additional holiday decorations had been added as well.

What do you think of the holiday offerings this year at the Magic Kingdom? Do you think more should be offered? What do you think of the new 50th decorations? Share your thoughts with us on our Facebook Page.
