Virtual Queue

Walt Disney World announced that when Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure opens on October 1st Guests will use a virtual queue system. This system was previously used for Rise of the Resistance in Disney’s Hollywood Studios.

Many Disney fans are divided by this announcement. By joining a Virtual Queue this allows you the opportunity to enjoy this new attraction without standing in a huge line. Think back to the opening of the Land of Pandora and Guests standing in line for hours on end to enjoy Flight of Passage.

The positive side to this announcement as mentioned above is a shorter wait time for Guests. The negative side is that some Guests have attempted to gain a Boarding Group for Rise of the Resistance (this attraction no longer offers a Virtual Queue) multiple times, but they were unable to join a Boarding Group.

When Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure opens on October 1st Guests will use a virtual queue system.

We have good news for those of you that want to try your hand in the Virtual Queue for Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure and also for those of you that would prefer to bypass the Virtual Queue altogether.

If you would prefer to bypass the Virtual Queue for Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure there is good news for you. Disney released information regarding the new Disney Genie that will be replacing the previous FastPass system that we knew and loved.

With this new system you have the option to enjoy the free Disney Genie through the My Disney Experience App or pay a daily fee to access the Disney Genie+ to use the Lightning Lane for select attractions.

I feel as though this is an informercial, but for a different fee you and your loved ones can gain access to the most sought after Disney attractions including those with a Virtual Queue system: Rise of the Resistance and Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure. These select attractions and a few others will be available for the Individual Lightning Lane.

Guests can purchase the Individual Lightning Lane for each member of their family to enjoy select attractions including Rise of the Resistance and Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure.

That truly is a lot of information to take in. Monica did an excellent job explaining the different aspects of the Disney Genie and Individual Lightning Lane. Be sure to check out the breakdown of each of these HERE.

Prepare for your Virtual Queue

The only way that you may obtain a Virtual Queue for the Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure is through the My Disney Experience app. Prior to your magical day in EPCOT you will want to update a few things in your My Disney Experience app. First, you will want to make sure that you have the most updated version of the My Disney Disney Experience app (version 5.6 or later.)

Second, each member of your family/traveling group will need to have their tickets linked on the My Disney Experience app. Each person in your traveling party will need to have a Park Pass Reservation for EPCOT for this day.

You cannot get a boarding group for a park that you do not have a park pass for!

All the members of your party will appear during the booking process. If they do not, a Guest Services Cast Member will be correct the error easily.

Virtual Queue Times

Walt Disney World has announced the Virtual Queue times will be at 7:00am and 1:00PM. All Guests who have a valid Park Reservation for EPCOT may try for a Remy Boarding Group at 7:00am. You can do this from outside of the park.

When staying at Disney’s Boardwalk this past summer, a friendly and spirited Cast Member, Kirk, waved streamers as he counted down the time until 7:00am for those Guests in the Boardwalk lobby trying to book their Rise of the Resistance Boarding Group. (a Virtual Queue is no longer available for this attraction)

If you do not get a Boarding Group at 7:00am, you can also try for a Boarding Group at 1:00pm.

As long as you have tapped into EPCOT at some point before 1 pm you can attempt to grab a backup group from elsewhere on Disney property. You can check out this updated change HERE.

If you will be Park Hopping, you will not be able to book a Virtual Queue for Remy. You MUST have Epcot as your starting park for the day.

great Pirate Tip is to set alarms on your phone two minutes before the 7:00am and 1:00pm Virtual Queue time frames (if you should need the second time).  “Time flies when you are having fun,” and these helpful alarms will alert you so you don’t miss the opportunity to join a Virtual Queue.

Steps to Gaining a Boarding Group

Credit: My Disney Experience App

Our very own Kenny the Pirate created a great list to successfully join a Boarding group for Rise of the Resistance. On this day, he tried for a 7:00am Boarding Group. These steps were completed using the My Disney Experience app.

Step #1

Click “Virtual Queues”

Step #2

At EXACTLY 7:00am click “Join Virtual Queue.” Recently, my husband and I (Donna) both tried to obtain a Boarding Group for Rise of the Resistance at 7:00am. He selected “Join Virtual Queue” before 7:00am and continued to refresh. I waited until exactly at 7:00am and then clicked on “Join Virtual Queue.”

I was able to obtain a Boarding group for Group 16. Unfortunately, my husband did not receive a Boarding Group with the refresh method.

Step #3

Quickly hit “Join” on the left

Helpful Hint

Don’t worry about names of your family group and quickly hit “JOIN” on the bottom of the screen. If the names appear incorrectly under your Boarding Group, visit Guests Services at the front of the Park.

With this new Boarding Group time slot, Boarding Groups are now being filled within SECONDS.

These tips are invaluable to give you the best possible chance to secure a Boarding Group. If you were unable to receive a Boarding Group at 7:00am, you will want to follow these same steps in order to receive a 1:00pm Virtual Queue.

To obtain a Boarding Group at 1:00pm simply follow the same instructions.

It appears that was previously used for Virtual Queue of Rise of the Resistance operates exactly the same as that for Web Slingers: A Spider-Man Adventure that opened earlier this year at Disney’s California Adventure Park.

Our very own Kenny the Pirate used these same tips to obtain a Boarding Group to enjoy this great new attraction on the West Coast.

What if you don’t get a Boarding Group?

What if you try these tips and you still do not grab a Boarding Group for Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure? You have 2 possibilities:

  • You could purchase the Individual Lightning Lane for that day. The price for this option has still not been released yet.
  • You can try for a Boarding Group later in the day. We are assuming that the second Virtual Queue will be available at 1:00pm as with Rise of the Resistance.

If you are unable to gain a Boarding Group at 7:00am, you can purchase an Individual Lightning Lane pass for the day (when that program begins) or try for a Boarding Group at 1:00pm.

This post will be updated as information becomes available so stay tuned!

Thanks for the article! You mentioned guests trying to join a queue from the Boardwalk lobby. We happen to be staying at the Boardwalk on our upcoming stay. Have you noticed that it’s easier to join a queue from the lobby or a specific spot at the resort rather than the comfort of your own room? Thank you!
