Relaxed Health and Safety Guidelines
Last week, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis announced in a press conference that he will sign a bill and an Executive Order that will be effective July 1, 2021. This new Executive Order will invalidate any existing COVID orders. Read more about this HERE.
Many questioned what this may mean for Walt Disney World. Walt Disney World released a statement to Guests assuring them that current health and safety protocols would remain in place and would be reevaluated. Check this statement out HERE.
The first change came last week regarding temperature screeings. After recent studies and CDC guidelines deemed temperature screenings unnecessary, Disney has decided to phase them out. On May 7, 2021, the Walt Disney World website changed the wording regarding temperature screenings. Previously, temperature checks were required to dine at Disney Resort table service restaurants. Check this out HERE.
Social Distancing
Earlier this week, Walt Disney World reported that they would begin to make “temporary adjustments to promote physical distancing. This is a gradual, phased approach so we won’t see changes overnight, but this is a step towards a more full Guest experience.

Festival of the Lion King
The fan-favorite show, Festival of the Lion King, has returned returning to Disney’s Animal Kingdom. Originally this show was to return mid-May, but Guests were delighted to enjoy this show on May 8, 2021. You can see all of the ways that this show has been modified HERE.
One of the main concerns of Disney Guests was the limited seating available at each of the 6 show times. A maximum of four people in the same party can sit together in the theater and then a divider blocks the next group.
Originally, the theater planned to skip rows to ensure even more physical distancing between groups. Because of this, the theater is not filled to maximum capacity.
Now, Guests visiting the “A Celebration of Festival of the Lion King” will be able to fill in more available space within the theatre. Starting this weekend, Guests will be seated on every row with some socially distancing markers in place.
By not eliminating every other row, this will allow the “A Celebration of Festival of the Lion King” theatre to be filled to 50% capacity.
