Massive Layoffs

In September 2020, the Walt Disney company announced that they would be making massive layoffs. Read all about this HERE.

Josh D’Amaro, currently serves as Chairman of Disney Parks, Experiences and Products, shared, “In light of the prolonged impact of COVID-19 on our business, including limited capacity due to physical distancing requirements and the continued uncertainty regarding the duration of the pandemic.”

D’Amaro went on to share, “We have made the very difficult decision to begin the process of reducing our workforce at our Parks, Experiences and Products segment at all levels.”

Increased Capacity

During a quarterly earnings call, Disney CEO, Bob Chapek, shared that Park capacity limits are on the rise. Chapek shared that at Walt Disney World, the Park capacity limits have already increased and will continue to rise as well.

Chapek shared the reasons behind this change. You can check this out HERE. He even announced a possible change in the face mask protocol. Be sure to check out this news HERE.

Returning to the Magic

With the increased capacity at Walt Disney World and the reopening of Disneyland, Chapek shared that even more Cast Members have returned to the Walt Disney Company.

During this quarterly earnings call, Chapek shared, “In terms of labor, we had about 80% of our Cast Members return that we’ve asked to return. And obviously one of the gating factors is to continue to get more and more Cast Members back, it thrills us to be able to do that.”

“We’ve had no problems whatsoever in terms of trying to get our cast to come back and make some magic for our Guests.”
