Disney Programs Provides New Update on Recruitment for College Program

Disney Programs Provides New Update on Recruitment for College Program

When Walt Disney World and Disneyland closed last spring, they also shut down many of their programs. Today, Disney Internships and Programs announced an update about future recruitment on popular programs such as the Disney College Program.

The Disney Parks we know and love have changed so much in 2020, and many of the programs that make the Parks so special have certainly taken a hit.

Relaxed "Disney Look" Requirements for Cast Members

Last Spring, Disney College Program participants learned that their programs would be abruptly cut short. Participants learned they needed to immediately return home.

In June, more unfortunate news followed. Many hopeful future participants learned the Disney College Program for that summer would no longer be happening.

Epcot changed dramatically when Cultural Representative programs were also impacted. We found the authentic feel of Epcot to be drastically altered without Cast Members representing their countries!

Disney’s Internships and Programs

Today, Disney’s Internships and Programs took to Twitter to update hopefuls on the current status of Disney Programs.

DIsney values the return of disney programs. We look forward to sharing more updates as they come.

Program Update

The update reads as follows:

For nearly 40 years, Disney Internships & Programs have been an important part of our heritage, having brought participants from around the world to Walt Disney World Resort and Disneyland Resort, where they have shared their new ideas, talents, and perspectives with our Cast Members, Guests and local communities.

We are honored that so many have been part of this legacy, resulting in thousands of alumni who have had the opportunity to make magic while creating their own memories and experiences that shaped the foundation of their future careers, whether at Disney or beyond.

We value these important opportunities and the benefits they provide our participants, our company, and schools and industries around the world. Our Disney internships are also an integral part of our future, helping to strengthen our diversity and innovation here at Disney.

Those are just some of the reasons why it was so difficult to suspend our programs earlier this year. We have not recruited participants for the upcoming semesters and we are still uncertain about when we will be able to resume our Disney Internships & Programs.

Disney Parks Blog 2020

For today’s students who are eager to become part of the magic, we encourage you to connect with and our social media channels for future updates. In the meantime, we are confident that our alumni-both here at Disney and beyond-will continue to keep the spirit of Disney Programs alive as we look forward to the future.

The future of the programs

The update is very vague. Unfortunately, it does not provide us with a timeline as to when we may see these programs return.

We are hopeful that as Disney continues to resume operations, we may start to see more of these programs return.

We can’t wait for the day that Disney brings back some of our favorite experiences! Until then, stay connected here at Kenny the Pirate. We’ll be sure to update you as more information about Disney Park operations as it becomes available.

What are your thoughts on the continued suspension of the Disney College Program? Let us know your thoughts on Kenny the Pirate’s Facebook Page, or join our crew and continue the discussion!
