Happy Thanksgiving to our KennythePirate Crew Members! There is truly so much to be thankful for this year. Join us as we remember all that we have to say “Thanks” for.

Thankful for You

This year truly has been a year that none of us have expected. It seems like just yesterday, we were all busy making New Year resolutions. No one could have predicted that so many of those resolutions would be drastically changed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

As the Disney Parks closed around the globe, we were all a bit shocked. During the period of time that Walt Disney World remained closed we enjoyed sharing so many great ways to keep the magic of Disney alive in our hearts.

Our favorite pirate, Kenny, created a clever name for this, “Disney-fy Your Downtime.” A simple search for “Disney-fy” on our main page will allow you to see many great ways to bring Disney to your homes.

From creating a Disney themed mug display , creating a Disney inspired home office, crafting with Magic Bands, and so many great recipes shared, there are so many great resources for Disney fans.

As a writing team, we are so incredibly thankful for each of the KennythePirate Crew Members and readers. Thank you for sharing your favorite magical Disney memories, you tips, and for your encouragement.

Thankful That Disney World Reopened

It was truly a magical time to see Walt Disney World reopen after being closed for almost 4 months. The Walt Disney Company truly rose to the occasion in developing health and safety protocols to keep both Cast Members and Guests safe.

Even though Walt Disney World was a bit different than in the past, the Disney magic was new and very much present as Guests returned “Home.” From the joy of pop-up characters found throughout the Theme Parks to even the joy of daily Character Cavalcades, Guests were still able to safely interact with their favorite characters.

If you have already visited Walt Disney World after their phased reopening or if you have a trip planned in the next few months or years, you will always be welcomed “Home.”

I was blessed with the opportunity to visit Walt Disney World in July. As I exited the Magical Express to stay at Pop Century, I saw rows of Cast Members there to greet me. I was the only Guest on the bus at this time, but as I walked down the stairs of the bus the Cast Members began to cheer for me.

As they were socially distanced from each other and from myself, they shouted “Welcome Home!” When you do feel safe returning to the Disney Parks, know that Cast Members will be there to welcome you back home.

Part of the KennythePirate Writing Crew

Jamie Fonseca shares, “I am so thankful to be able to write about my favorite place with this amazing team of Disney lovers! The friendships I’ve made writing about what I love have kept me sane and grounded this year. Thank you Kenny for this opportunity! Thank you to Monica, Susan, Donna, Jessica, Maggie, Christina, Kate, Heather, Ashley, Marisol, Jaelyn, and Kenny for your friendship and love!”

Writer Marisol White shares, I’m thankful that 2020 was a year where we counted our blessings and not what we have or wish we had. I’m blessed with such a beautiful family and friends who are new and old.”

Jessica Watkins

Jessica Watkins shares what she is thankful for this Thanksgiving, This year I am most thankful for my family, they are always supportive no matter what obstacles 2020 tries to throw my way.”

“I’m grateful for the gift of more time at home with my family because my daughters are growing up so quickly. I am thankful for the opportunity to write about my favorite place and for the new Disney loving friends I have made this year.”

Maggie Baltz

Maggie Baltz shares what she is most thankful for: “I am so thankful for the opportunity to write about Disney. Thanks, Kenny! It has been a dream come true. I’m thankful for the friendships made and our team of writers. Despite it being a difficult year, this is the first year I have been fortunate enough to visit Disney twice. Most of all, I’m thankful my family has been happy and healthy throughout this year. Happy Thanksgiving!

Writer Jaelyn Winkle shares, “This year, I am thankful for quality time with my family. While 2020 brought many challenges, it delivered lots of time at home with my family. We were lucky enough to add a new son into our family this year and have enjoyed the extra time at home to celebrate our family of four.”

Christina Knerr

Christina Knerr reflects on why she is thankful this Thanksgiving: While 2020 has been a year I would rather forget, I must say it has opened my eyes to all the blessings in my life. I realize now that the things that I am missing out on are just material things. I am so grateful that I have a job, food on the table, and my family is safe and healthy.”

“That is all I really need in this world and often the things that I took for granted before. I’m also grateful to Kenny for making me part of the KtP Writing Crew family. The writers have become my best friends and have been there for me through all the ups and downs of this year.

While I can’t wait for things to return to normal so I can do the things I love again, I will alway be grateful fro this time of reflection on what truly matters most.

Susan Phillips

Susan Phillips shares, “2020 has been a year to remember. As I’ve been forced to slow down, I’ve become more thankful for things that were so easy to take for granted. Whoever would have thought an entire world shut down for a period of time? Then slowly, we were able to leave our home to go out to eat, visit friends, and return to school.”

“I’m especially thankful for the love of my family and friends. During this especially difficult time, I am so blessed to be part of such a caring, supportive, and tight knit writer’s group.”

“Lastly, I am thankful for Jesus being my foundation, guiding me through the dark and the wonderful times of my life.”

Heather Alosa

Heather Alosa shares: “I am so thankful for my family and our health. I am thankful that our family has been able to cherish and appreciate the time we have together even though it is in different ways than we had thought. I am so thankful for Kenny and the KtP Writing Crew, your friendship is nothing short of amazing!”

One writer shares what she is thankful for: “I’m so thankful for the health of my family and friends! Also, I’m thankful that we usually have so much fun at Disney all year long. This year, I realized just how wonderful things usually are.”

Donna Farmer

Finally, I am so thankful for my family and the new perspective that only 2020 can bring. So many times I think we think we can wait for tomorrow what we could enjoy today. Back in February my family had an opportunity to visit Walt Disney World during the Princess 1/2 marathon weekend.

Little did we know that in a matter of weeks things were shut down and our “normal” daily life would be quite different for the days and months to come. Our last day in the Parks was at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. My family questioned if we really had to stop and visit with Mickey Mouse when we had just visited with him the day before.

I am so thankful that we took the time to visit with him. It is unclear when character interactions may return, but I am thankful that we took one more opportunity to hug Mickey and tell him “See ya real soon!” I am so thankful for the perspective to enjoy every day and soak up every moment.

The KennythePirate Writing Crew wishes you a very Happy Thanksgiving. Thank each of your for your support throughout 2020. What are you thankful for this Thanksgiving? Share your thoughts with us on our Facebook Page.
