Several safety and health precautions will be put into place for the reopening of Disney Springs. More details below.
It was just announced that Disney-owned restaurants and retail businesses will be reopening at the end of the month, shortly after third-party businesses reopen on May 20. You can find more details for this phased reopening HERE.
The president of UNITE HERE, Local 362 Union, Eric Clinton shared this reopening timeline with Hollywood Reporter and spoke of the “mix of emotions” of returning to work. Potential infection is of concern but so is not being able to pay rent.
In order to help protect Cast Members and Guests, several safety measures will be implemented.
According to the Hollywood Reporter, “Disney is treating the safety of both guests and employees with the utmost seriousness,” explained Clinton, highlighting some of the precautions that will be put in place.
Masks, Temperature Checks, Pexiglass, and More
All guests and Cast Members will be required to wear masks. Disney will provide Cast Members with three washable masks.
Guests will have their temperature checked, and plexiglass dividers have been installed at registers. Guests will swipe their own payments cards, as they will no longer be handled by employees. Lastly, custodial Cast Members will be retrained to pay attention to high-touch areas.
Disney has also developed new global training for park employees to inform them about health and safety amid the pandemic, Clinton said. The company will also hold monthly safety meetings, with which the union will be involved.
He did not offer any speculation as to when the resorts and parks would reopen, but did share what we see in Shanghai Disneyland’s reopening is likely what we will see here in the states.
In case you missed it, Shanghai Disneyland reopened on Monday, May 11 after tickets sold out within minutes. Advanced reservations were required along with face masks, QR codes, temperature checks, and social distancing.

I am concerned about the masks in July, August and September. I feel many people will be fainting from lack of oxygen.

Safety is fine but masks are insane, not everyone can wear a mask of stupid, oeopllecwith asthma, or other breathing issues can not wear them. How are you going to eat with a mask on?
