KtP Writers Answer: Favorite Resort Pool

KtP Writers Answer: Favorite Resort Pool

For a stress-free Disney or Universal Studios vacation, let the FREE expert planners at Royal Carriage Vacations take care of every detail including dining reservations, applying discounts, and onboard cruise credit.

A common question we see a lot in the Kenny the Pirate Crew facebook group is “What is the best Disney World resort pool and kid’s splash area?”

This is a very good question since many guests like to take afternoon breaks from the parks or have scheduled “resort time” during their vacation. Follow along as we share which resort pools have stood out to us over our previous WDW resort stays.

Amanda: My family’s favorite pool and splash pad is at Caribbean Beach. We really feel like we’re in the Caribbean! My kids love the theming of the main pool and pretend to be pirates while enjoying the slide and water canons.

They absolutely adore the kid’s splash area that has a small double slide and a bucket of falling water! It’s hard to get them to leave!

For adults, it is so relaxing to lounge by the pool and watch the gondolas pass by from the new Skyliner station at the resort. The gondolas are surprisingly eerily quiet and it is so fun to watch all the different character designs! The close proximity of the pools to the main lobby and quick service dining is also a huge plus for us!

Kate: We are huge fans of the pool at Port Orleans French Quarter. Since it serves a smaller resort, it feels less crowded to me than other pools. We have had the whole thing to ourselves before.

My little ones love the splash pad area. They call it the “water playground.” They also like the serpent slide. I like that it is a compact area, and it is easy to keep an eye on little ones. It is a great pool for families with small children.

Rebecca: The thing is, none can compare to the Yacht & Beach Club. The sand bottom pool, multiple hot tubs, lazy river, and whirlpool are all things that are unique to Stormalong Bay.

Stormalong Bay is technically a water park! The pirate ship slide is pretty cool too! We had walked under it a few times and my son was excited to actually get to ride it! The slide itself is just okay, but the theming is great.

The only cons to me are not having a men’s room inside the pool area, which seems like poor design and it would be chaotic to keep track of multiple children or young children. But for tweens and up, Yacht Club is #1!

Ashley: I think Rebecca summed up the Yacht and Beach Club pretty well! It’s basically a mini Typhoon Lagoon with a sandy bottom, lazy river, and great seaside theming. I agree not the best for young children (does it even have a splash pad? I don’t think so.) and it is hard to keep track of multiple children. But for older children it’s great!

Monica: My family loves the pool at Old Key West. There is a Mickey slide, but the real star of the show is behind the pool there is a secluded sand area with hammocks. It really has the laid back vibe of Key West.

Heather: I love the quiet pools versus the feature pools. The two that have stuck out the most to me are Old Key West (turtle pond) and the Polynesian quiet pools. I love the feeling of having the pools to ourselves. My toddler loved the splash pad at Bay Lake Tower.

Susan: When we stayed at Riverside, my children loved going to the quiet pool in the Alligator Bayou section. We were the only people there, and it was a nice change of pace compared to our busy park days.

Maggie: I love the pool and resort at Wilderness Lodge. It feels so picturesque and it’s just really beautiful.
