Disney World Crowd Calendar March 2019

Disney World Crowd Calendar March 2019Spring Break Season!  Mid-March 2019 and early April 2018 are typically a BUSY time to visit Walt Disney World.  The crowds quickly move from Light to Moderate to Heavy to Insane.  Be sure to follow my recommendations here on the Disney World Crowd Calendar for March 2019

The Epcot Flower and Garden Festival begins in March and runs until Late May and it creates a slight increase in crowds, but affects Epcot more on the weekends than at other times.  The concert lineup for Garden Rocks haven’t been announced yet.  It’s rare that rides are closed during this month, but check my Attraction Refurbishment page closer to your date to verify.  We do know that the Walt Disney World Railroad and Tomorrowland Speedway will be closed.

While March 2019 is typically busy, you can manage them with good touring plans and Fastpass+ usage.   I’ve set touring records during some of the busiest days, so I know what I’m talking about. If you are staying at a Walt Disney World resort, rise early on your Magic Kingdom day and take advantage of the early opening of the Magic Kingdom.

Avoid the trap of visiting a park on its longest hours day.  More people will be there and the wait times can be 30% to 100% higher than other days.

What will the weather be like during your March trip?

  • Average high temperature:  78°F
  • Average low temperature:  54°F
  • Mean temperature:  66°F
  • Record high temperature:  92°F (1963)
  • Record low temperature:  25°F (1980)
  • Average Precipitation:  4.01 in.

Weather in Orlando in March tends to be mild, but evenings can feel chilly, so bring a hoodie or jacket.  It still rains some times, but not like it does here in the summer.

Should I use Extra Magic Hours privilege?

If you are a Disney World hotel guest who is planning to use Extra Magic Hours, use the morning ones.  The morning ones are a great benefit, if you leave after lunch or parade time.  Avoid the parks that offer evening Extra Magic Hours because they have large crowds at night and many rides have long lines (Hollywood Studios and Epcot).  The exception would be the Magic Kingdom late at night because most guests won’t stay up from 12am to 2am in the morning.  If you choose a Late Extra Magic Hour park, you should plan to sleep in the next day.

Disney World Crowd Calendar January 2019

Disney World Crowd Calendar January 2019

The Disney World Crowd Calendar for January 2019 shows that this month is typically a pretty calm one at Walt Disney World.  The weather is cold and the crowds are average, except for the first few days, Marathon weekend and MLK Weekend.  Epcot offers the Festival of the Arts.  There’s no special parties, so many rides go down for refurbishment.   Those refurbishments are typically listed a few months before hand.  Water rides are typically closed most or all of January.

Disney World Crowd Calendar January 2019

While the final week of Christmas vacation is insanely busy, you can manage them with good touring plans and Fastpass+ usage.   If you are staying at a Walt Disney World resort, rise early on your Magic Kingdom day and take advantage of the early opening of the Magic Kingdom.   When visiting the parks, I recommend that you avoid the Extra Magic Hour parks as they will draw in more guests.

With lower hours than normal early in the month, it may be best to spend a day in the parks and spend an evening the Fort Wilderness Campfire.

Avoid the trap of visiting a park on its longest hours day.  More people will be there and the wait times can be 30% to 100% higher than other days.  The BEST day to visit the Magic Kingdom in terms of lines is a Christmas Party day.  Many attractions are walk-on.

What will the weather be like during your January trip?

  • Average high temperature:  71°F
  • Average low temperature:  47°F
  • Mean temperature:  59°F
  • Record high temperature:  89°F (2006)
  • Record low temperature:  18°F (1985)
  • Average Precipitation:  2.91 in.

January is the coldest month of the year in Orlando and oddly enough we still get a decent amount of rain too.  Be sure to dress for both warmer days and colder nights with a nice jacket and cap.

Disney World Crowd Calendar October 2018

Disney World Crowd Calendar October 2018

Disney World Crowd Calendar October 2018The Disney World Crowd Calendar October 2018 starts off as a warm month and begins to cool off as the month goes along.  It’s still in the high season for hurricanes, so be sure to check into travel insurance for your trip.   We tend to see moderate rainfalls, but showers can happen any afternoon and some Halloween Parties experience rainfall.  The crowds in October at Disney World tend to be in the low to moderate range.  The Halloween Parties are quite popular and sell out often on weekends and around Halloween.

MICKEY’S NOT SO SCARY HALLOWEEN PARTY and Epcot’s Food & Wine Festival with the Eat to the Beat Concert Series will bring in some crowds, but nothing like Summer season or the big Holidays.  The Columbus Day weekend is typically really busy, but can be managed with good TOURING PLANS and Fastpass+ usage.   Mid-week Halloween Parties are generally the best if you’re vacationing here.  It’s my opinion that everyone should experience the Halloween Party at least once.  The lower crowds can also lead to ATTRACTION REFURBISHMENTS that are typically not announced until summer.  Be sure to check back during the summer months to see if anything has changed.

October is a great month as far as crowds are concerned, (except on weekends and Columbus Day week is bad,)  and is among the best times to visit.  Regardless of the times you can still enjoy the parks by going to a green park, arriving at least 45 minutes before rope drop.

I recommend the strategy of arriving early and taking a mid-afternoon break.  Go for a swim with the kids and enjoy the pool, then take a nap of an hour or so before returning to a park for evening entertainment and rides.

Will the park hours for Magic Kingdom, Hollywood Studios and Animal Kingdom be extended?

Yes, it’s highly likely that the park hours will extend for many dates in October.  Disney usually releases preliminary hours, then adds hours the closer you get to your trip.  With Animal Kingdom now offering “After dark” experiences, you can expect that park to stay open much later.

What will the weather be like during your October trip?

  • Average high temperature:  84°F
  • Average low temperature:  66°F
  • Mean temperature:  75°F
  • Record high temperature:  95°F (1958)
  • Record low temperature:  38°F (2008)
  • Average Precipitation:  2.52 in.

October is in the median range in terms of temperature and rain.  It’s still hurricane season, so be prepared.  Late in the month may have some cooler nights, so bring a sweater.

Dress in light colors and wear comfortable shoes with socks that breathe.  Bring a small, handheld fan for each child.  Bring a poncho for each person and a stroller cover because there’s often afternoon thunderstorms in the summer.

Should I use Extra Magic Hours privilege?

Avoid the trap of visiting a park on its longest hours day.  More people will be there and the wait times can be 30% to 100% higher than other days.

Disney World Crowd Calendar June 2019

Disney World Crowd Calendar June 2019

Disney World Crowd Calendar June 2019The Disney World Crowd Calendar June 2019 begins the busy summer season at Walt Disney World, so the crowd calendar is basically Orange for Heavy Crowds.  You can still enjoy the parks by going to a green park, arriving at least 60 minutes before rope drop and following one of my touring plans to get the most out of your day.

Yes, it’s possible that the park hours will extend for many dates in June.  Disney usually releases preliminary hours, then adds hours the closer you get to your trip.

What will the weather be like during your June trip?

It still gets hot in beginning in May and into June, especially later in the month, with an average high of 89 and average low of 65, and it gets humid in Orlando.  Dress in light colors and wear comfortable shoes with socks that breathe.  Bring a small, handheld fan for each child.  Bring a poncho for each person and a stroller cover because there’s often afternoon thunderstorms in the summer.  June is in the upper 3rd in terms of rainy days, especially second half of the month

  • Average high temperature:  89°F
  • Average low temperature:  65°F
  • Mean temperature:  77°F
  • Record high temperature:  100°F (1967)
  • Average Precipitation:  3.10 in.

Should I use Extra Magic Hours privilege?

Disney World Crowd Calendar May 2019

Disney World Crowd Calendar May 2019

Disney World Crowd Calendar May 2018The Disney World Crowd Calendar May 2019 begins as a very light and pleasant month.  The weather isn’t very hot yet and it rains occasionally, but not consistently.  The first two weeks of May are a great time to visit for lower crowds and beautiful flowers.  Early May is among the best times to visit Disney World in terms of crowds and weather.   Late May begins the Summer travel season with the Memorial Day Weekend kickoff and the calendar gets busier for summer.

You can enjoy any day in the parks by going to a green park, arriving at least 45 minutes before rope drop and following one of my touring plans to get the most out of your day.

I recommend the strategy of arriving early and taking a mid-afternoon break.  Go for a swim with the kids and enjoy the pool, then take a nap of an hour or so before returning to a park for evening entertainment and rides.
