Disney World Strips Away Magic for More Bland Theming
Sometimes change is a hard thing, especially when these changes strip away pure Disney magic. See why we are not happy with these recent resort changes.
Olivia's Cafe Changes
Olivia's Cafe is located at Disney's Old Key West. Even Guests not staying at Old Key West make dining reservations just to enjoy the delicious food and unique dining experience.
Breakfast seems to be the most popular meal at this location. Olivia's Cafe serves traditional breakfast items, such as pancakes and omelets, and some specialties of its own, like the Banana Bread French Toast.
Recently, Disney notified Guests that Brunch will no longer be offered at Olivia's Cafe beginning October 6, 2026.
DVC Photos Removed
On October 6, 2026, Olivia's Cafe at Old Key West will offer breakfast, lunch, and dinner. This will change the format a bit, but apparently this is not the only change to this location.
Disney's Old Key West is the original Disney Vacation Club (DVC) resort and boasts the largest DVC rooms on the property. One tradition that has continued through the years is family photos from DVC Members shared along the walls of Olivia's Cafe.
Unfortunately, all DVC family photos have now been removed from the walls of Olivia's Cafe. Disney shares that many photos were fading over time, and all photos were moved into "DVC Family Album: Meet Our Members," which guests may look through.
Disney World Bland Rethemes
While we understand the reasoning behind this, it is still disappointing for DVC Members. The new look of Olivia's Cafe is more of a nautical theme but lacks true Disney magic.
For the last several years, Disney fans have complained that Walt Disney World Resorts are receiving bland refurbishments and lack the unique theming that Guests first fell in love with, such as at Disney's Pop Century.
DVC Member photos have now been removed from Olivia's Cafe.
Old Key West DVC Members can still submit family photos to be added to the "DVC Family Album" by scanning a QR code and following the instructions to submit a photo for consideration.
