A Major Surprise Greets Guests at Disney's Hollywood Studios

Hollywood Studios Changes

Disney World announced that Star Wars Launch Bay closed permanently on September 25, 2025. In addition to the Launch Bay closure, the theater that has hosted Disney Jr. Play and Dance also closed.

Disney Imagineers had a new vision for this space "The Magic of Disney Animation". If you loved the animated short "Once Upon a Studio", Disney Imagineering will bring this magic to "The Magic of Disney Animation."

The building will be similar to the iconic Roy E. Disney Animation Building. This building will even be topped with Mickey's iconic Sorcerer hat.

The Magic of Disney Animation Phased Opening

"Magic of Disney Animation" opened in phases, with "Disney Jr. Mickey Mouse Clubhouse Live!" opening first. Disney announced that "The Magic of Disney Animation" will fully open "later this summer".

An original opening date was set for September 14, 2026. For the past several days, Cast Members have enjoyed special previews of "The Magic of Disney Animation".

We hoped that if the previews went well, guests might enjoy a soft opening of "The Magic of Disney Animation".

"The Magic of Disney Animation" Surprise Opening

Today, September 11, 2026, Guests visiting Disney's Hollywood Studios are now welcomed for a soft opening of "The Magic of Disney Animation". This includes Drawn To Wonderland" playground, "Off the Page" character interactions, and "Olaf Draws".

"The Magic of Disney Animation" offers a soft opening today.

With this being a soft opening, the attraction may not offer consistent operating hours. However, this is a great surprise for Guests visiting today.
