Disney just announced changes to the Disney Store online, restricting access for several Guests. Find out how these changes may affect you.

Disney Store Rebranding

Over the years, many local Disney Stores have closed. Interestingly, pop-up Disney shops are now available at Target. This was an interesting shift for many. There was nothing quite like the awe and wonder of visiting your local Disney Store.

Back in 2017, the Walt Disney Company chose to rebrand its online store. The name changed from DisneyStore.com to shopDisney.com. However, this was not simply a name change but also a shift to target a new retail audience.

This change was meant to serve as a one-stop shop by offering a wide variety of products and great brand-name merchandise. Perhaps this rebrand didn't pan out. In February 2024, shopDisney returned to its previous name, DisneyStore.com.

A new notification now pops up when you search Disney Store Australia: "Important Update: DisneyStore.com.au will continue to operate in Australia until 30 September 2026, after which your local online store will close."

Shoppers are notified: "Orders placed through the 30th September will continue to be fulfilled." This affects Disney fans in both Australia and New Zealand.

This will also affect select Southeast Asia Disney fans.

DisneyStore.asia now notifies shoppers, "DisneyStore.asia will continue to operate in Singapore until 30 September 2026, after which your local online store will close."

DisneyStore.au and DisneyStore.asia will change operations on September 30, 2026.

Shoppers are notified "Orders placed through the 30th September will continue to be fulfilled."

It is unclear what the reason is behind these closures. At this time, this change only affects Disney fans in Singapore, Australia, and New Zealand.
