Disappointing Tower of Terror Experience
This was not the Tower of Terror experience that we had hoped for. See the newest update to this classic attraction.
Tower of Terror

The fan-favorite Tower of Terror attraction brings thrills to guests of all ages. This attraction is offered at both Walt Disney World's Hollywood Studios and Disneyland Paris Walt Disney Studios Park.
In 2023, Disney began a secret refurbishment for the Tower of Terror. The ride wasn't 100% closed. Instead, portions of the ride closed so work could be completed while keeping the attraction open.
As the attraction ran at half capacity, wait times grew.
Tower of Terror Permit

Earlier, a permit was filed for the Tower of Terror, listing the contractor as MLC Theming. MLC Theming serves Theme Parks with "scenic painting, aging structures, fabricating facades, carving rock work, and more."
The current work listed is for "General Construction". Disney has not announced any planned work or possible closures due to this new permit.
Although Disney has not announced this refurbishment, we now see refurbishment work at the Tower of Terror.
Tower of Terror Disappointment

On a recent trip to Disney's Hollywood Studios, we turned down Sunset Boulevard and were shocked to see large scaffolding covering the side of the Tower of Terror.
Large scaffolding now covers the side of the Tower of Tower.
While we understand that refurbishment work must be completed, this takes away from the overall aesthetic and the timeline for this attraction. Many times, Disney will use a scrim to help recreate the look of the attraction for Guests.

Earlier this year, we noticed a scrim on the Haunted Mansion (pictured above). While the 2D look is not the same, it at least kept the overall look of the original attraction.
Disney has not made an official announcement about the Tower of Terror refurbishment or when this project may be completed.
