Disappointing Change at Festival of the Lion King
This change is bittersweet as one of our favorite parts of Disney's Animal Kingdom's Festival of the Lion King is now changed forever.
Festival of the Lion King

In the past, one of my "must-do" experiences in Disney's Animal Kingdom was to attend at least one showing of the Festival of the Lion King. In my (Donna) opinion, this is simply the best show throughout all of the Walt Disney World.
I love the camaraderie as everyone in your seating section was given an animal sound to make during various times of the show.
The beautifully colored costumes coupled with the dynamic performances made this show seem as though you were enjoying a Broadway musical.
Magic of Festival of the Lion King

Walt Disney used the term of "plussing" which means you take a great idea to the next level. I felt as though the Festival of the Lion King was a beautiful illustration of this "plussing" principle.
The entire show was fantastic, but in the grand finale it seemed as they layered one fantastic performance upon another.
Last year, we shared an awesome opportunity to get a rare backstage look at this show.
Veryl E. Jones Retires

One of the standout performers for Festival of the Lion King for over 20 years was Veryl E. Jones. He was the powerhouse who sang "Be Prepared" in the show while taking on the role of Kiume.
Veryl E. Jones is officially retired from the Festival of the Lion King.
Veryl E. Jones is truly Disney magic, and he will be greatly missed as he sang his final "Circle of Life" as he prepares for retirement.
Thanks to @drjones3k for sharing this beautiful final farewell to this great entertainer:
What do you think of this show? Do you think it will be different now that Veryl E. Jones is leaving? Share your thoughts with us and share this news with your Disney pals.
