Disney Parks to Auction Muppet Vision 3D Props and More
Have you ever wondered what Disney does with iconic set pieces from shuttered attractions? Soon, Disney fans will be able to bid on their favorite memorabilia from several closed attractions.
Promise to Preserve Muppet Vision
Muppet Vision 3D was the final major project that Jim Henson directed before he passed in 1990. It originally opened on May 16, 1991, and closed on June 7, 2026.
Disney shared that they were "exploring ways to preserve the film and other parts of the experience for fans to enjoy in the future."
This past Christmas, guests could enjoy rare Muppet Vision 3D magic near the entrance of Disney's Hollywood Studios at Sid Cahuenga's One-of-a-Kind Tinseltown Photos. Part of the carpet from Muppet Vision 3D was on display for Guests to enjoy.
Disney Experiences Auction
Disney is now partnering with Heritage Auctions to offer the first-ever "Disney Experiences Auction: Rare and Remarkable Finds".
This event will be hosted by Brett Wan, the official voice of Mickey Mouse, and will be held in person and online this August during the D23 event in Anaheim.
Many of the items featured in this auction will come from the following closed Walt Disney World attractions: MuppetVision 3D, DINOSAUR, Tom Sawyer Island, and Rivers of America.
Disney Collectors
Disney shares, "Calling all collectors: Get ready for The Disney Experiences Auction - Rare And Remarkable Finds at D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event. Through live and online bidding, discover select, verified pieces from Disney's theme parks and resorts that are ready for their next chapter with the fans who treasure them most."
Disney Parks will sell props and memorabilia during the D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event this August.
It appears that this auction may be offered more in the future.
