For many travelers, one of the biggest draws of Aulani, A Disney Resort & Spa in Ko Olina, Hawai'i, is the amazing pool complex. The resort also has other exciting amenities, including access to a beautiful beach with calm, protected waters, character interactions, and daily activities.

But sometimes, a nice day at the pool is just what you need after a day of travel and adventures! Aulani's Waikolohe Valley pool area is perfect for the entire family.

The expansive area features infinity edge pools, a lazy river, thrilling pool slides, play areas dedicated to children, and an adults-only area. And, you can expect to see plenty of dance parties and Hawaiian storytelling as well!

Of course, an area like this must be meticulously maintained for everyone's safety and enjoyment. This is why Disney plans refurbishments for the pool periodically.

And, now Disney has announced that Aulani will have a major refurbishment impacting the pool area! According to Aulani's booking site, from April 5, 2027, to May 7, 2027, the Waikolohe Stream lazy river and Tubestone Curl tube slide will be closed for maintenance.

This means that if you plan to head to Aulani and your visit falls within that date range, you will not be able to enjoy the lazy river or tube slide. This may be disappointing for some guests.

If you are planning a visit to Oahu during these dates or you already have a stay booked, you might be worried that you will not enjoy your stay with the refurbishment happening. Here are some things to consider if you are thinking of changing your plans based on this news.

If you plan to spend a good amount of your time relaxing at the pool, and a lazy river is one of your must-haves, you might consider looking into other dates or other accommodations (at least for part of the trip). In fact, some DVC owners doubtless wish Disney had made the announcement before their booking window opened.
