Refurbishments are a part of life at Disney Parks and Resorts. These may take place for various reasons. Whether it be for mechanical issues or cosmetic updates, a refurbishment can take place for many reasons.

Refurbishments can occur at attractions, resorts, restaurants, and even recreational activities.

Unfortunately, these are needed to keep the Disney Parks and Disney Resorts in their best possible shape. Sometimes they last only a few days or weeks, while others may extend for months and even over a year.

Many times, Disney aims to inform Guests of closures and refurbishments well in advance of their visit; however, at times this is unavoidable.

For many travelers, one of the biggest draws of Aulani, A Disney Resort & Spa in Ko Olina, Hawai'i, is the amazing pool complex. The resort also has other exciting amenities, including access to a beautiful beach with calm, protected waters, character interactions, and daily activities.

Back in June, we shared that Aulani, a Disney Resort & Spa would have a major refurbishment impacting the pool area in mid-2027. This was almost a year ahead of the planned closure, but now an unexpected closure affects this complex.
