Major New Rule Changes for Height Restrictions Hit Dollywood
America's favorite theme park has made some major updates to add new height restrictions to some of its attractions. Here is how this could impact your next visit to Dollywood.
Dollywood Changes Height Restrictions

One reason many families love to visit Dollywood is that there are multiple attractions for people of all ages. Whether guests prefer thrill rides or gentle experiences, there is something for everyone!
Many of the rides do not have height restrictions at all. Even a toddler can experience the attraction, provided that they have upper-body control and are accompanied by an adult or someone 14 or older.
However, Dollywood just added height restrictions to some of the attractions that did not have them before! This has come as a shock to many guests who were expecting their little ones to be able to enjoy all of the rides they have enjoyed in the past.
Which Dollywood Rides Have New Height Restrictions

The new restrictions are published in the attraction descriptions on Dollywood's official website and at the attractions themselves. However, they are so new that the ride height requirement chart linked to the Dollywood site still displays the old requirement at the time of writing, so people who are using that document for guidance will want to double-check so they can manage expectations.
Attractions in Country Fair, such as Busy Bees, Lucky Ducky, and Piggy Parade all have new height restrictions. Children must be a minimum of 36" to ride them regardless of age.
All riders must meet the minimum height requirement, even if there is an adult accompanying them. They will not be allowed on the attraction at all if they do not measure up. The new rule might be confusing for some children, who were allowed to ride the attractions before but cannot ride them now.
Which Dollywood Rides Have No Minimum Height

However, there are still several attractions that have no minimum height, provided that children under 48" are accompanied by someone 14 or older. At the time of writing, there is no restriction listed for Dollywood Express, Lemon Twist, The Amazing Flying Elephants, Rockin Roadway, Treetop Tower, Village Carousel, and Frogs and Fireflies.
New Height Restrictions are in place for Busy Bees, Lucky Ducky, and Piggy Parade.
The list of attractions with restrictions might be confusing for some because Busy Bees, Lucky Ducky, and Piggy Parade are all arguably tamer than a couple of the attractions that have no height restriction. Even so, the rules are in place for a reason.

Parents will need to manage the expectations of little ones. It may be best to steer clear of those attractions altogether if your child is under 36" and will be distressed if they are unable to ride them. After all, there are still Dollywood rides that are great for little kids!
