Disney World Hints at Lightning Lane Discounts
If you feel Walt Disney World vacations are too expensive, we have great news for you! Now Disney is discussing offering discounts for Lightning Lane selections.
Disney World Survey

The Walt Disney Company often sends out surveys to Disney guests to find ways to improve experiences on many different facets of the company.
A recent survey targets offering discounts for the Walt Disney World Annual Pass and discounts for Lightning Lane selections.
Over the past several months, the Walt Disney Company has been under attack by many who feel that the Disney parks are too expensive for the average family. It is great to see that potential discounts could help to alleviate the price of a Disney vacation.
Lightning Lane Discounts

The Lightning Lane Multi-Pass and Lightning Lane Single-Pass allows guests to skip the traditional standby queue. This offers variable pricing based on the crowd calendar.
Onsite Guests can purchase and make selections 7 days ahead of their arrival date. Offsite Guests can do so 3 days ahead.
The new Guest survey hints that Guests making Lightning Lane selections 7 days before their visit may enjoy a discounted price. Currently, the price is the same no matter when purchased.
This could be an added perk for Guests staying at a Walt Disney World Resort if offered at a discount for 7 days before their arrival day.
Annual Pass Discount

Disney has offered various Annual Passholder discounts over the years. Last summer, Disney offered a Disney gift card for brand-new Passholders.
Disney surveys Guests hinting at a pre-arrival discount for Lightning Lane selections.
The new Disney survey asks Guests if they would consider purchasing a Walt Disney World Annual Pass if a $400 discount were available. From the wording, it appears this discount may again only apply to brand-new Passholders.
While this is still in the discussion phase, these sound like great discounts for Guests.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR: Donna loved Disney from an early age. As a child, her family would joke that she lived in "Donna Land." As an adult, she enjoys planning and creating magical vacations for her family. She always brings a little faith, trust, and a little bit of Pixie Dust!

I don't believe Disney will ever add a discounted, seasonal Lightning Lane option for passholders. Disney's goal is to keep the number of people using the Lightning Lanes to a reasonable number (this is the only way they can keep the standby lanes moving at an acceptable pace), and to monetize the Lightning Lanes as much as possible for those that are using this feature.
I would consider buying an annual pass if it was discounted.
I used to have one.
I would welcome this discount on Lightening Lane for AP holders. Another idea would be to allow AP holders to add-on and buy Lightening Lane for the season at a deeply discounted price, just like is available for the PhotoPass.
Mental health professionals say that almost as much satisfaction from a vacation comes from planning for it, as from going and experiencing it. This is true. I remember our family gathering around the table when my children were younger planning for our three free FastPasses we got each day of our upcoming WDW vacation, along with other park plans, including dining. This added to the excitement for all of us. We also did not need to keep our nose in our phones back then to have an enjoyable, well-planned visit to WDW.
This is a wonderful idea! As an Annual Passholder, I would gladly add on a Lightning Lane option for a reasonable price.
